Has anybody had any negative or positive experiences with e-bay in regards to purchases you have made? More specifically, what have your experiences been in purchasing electronics? I intend to purchase the Pioneer avic-n1 dvd/navigation player and I have noticed the prices are considerably cheaper off ebay. What's the catch?

 

just look at the sellers feedback. If they are a power seller, or have 100% or close to it positive feedback, i would say dont worry about it. Alot of the cheap stuff is wholesale dealers who make enough sales to justify the low prices.

 

First off, make sure the seller has a good reputation (Feedback Rating of 95% or above)....

Read the ENTIRE auction item description. Sometimes with electronics, they are refurbished units, or factory reconditioned, and the sellers will write it somewhere hard to see, or in small writing (Sometimes). I personally would not buy USED electronics from ebay, Unless, again, the Seller has a GOOD Feedback score.

 

Also be aware that even if it is a brand new product, the seller usally isn't an authorized dealer therefore voiding any manufacturers warranties.

I have made several hundred purchases (mostly sports collectible stuff) without incident.......though none in the electronics category.

If you use a credit card, it also provides an extra layer of protection (you can challange the charge on the card).

 

be sure you get the remote (if applicable) AND beware, the warranty issue can become a big deal.
