I recently test drove a Mitsu Evo and Forester - turbo, just for the fun of it. I can tell you that the Forester is fast. I had 5 people in it and was skidding around corners. I don't like it for its looks, I like it becuase it is stealth. Who would expect it would be that fast. It has the appearance of a "soccer mom's" car. It will kill many other cars. If you don't launch good, it could take you off the line. Once you get movin, you will definitly catch up.

Bah, i'm sorry but regardless of how fast you people think it is, if it weighs more and has less horsepower, IT IS NOT FASTER IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM! I'm sure it's fast. And for that Subaru gets a cookie. The ad is fake, and If it were real it would be false advertising.

the ad could def be real... the xt has a faster 0-60 time then the z with no passengers... thats all the add is arguing, get over it. Yea the xt may be ugly but the times dont lie..

yea but you also have to factor in the all wheel drive, that is a big factor in 0-60 times, not saying it is faster just that it makes a difference

The ad "could def be real" and you "could def" be a rocket scientist. But I bet you're probably not. And I bet the ad is also probably not real. A few people many threads ago stated that even the original ad was a chop from a subi forum.

It's underratted, actually closer to 240hp by the dynos I've seen. My wife has one and it corners much better than any car I have seen.

Acutally 210 hp is underated. My friend has a stock XT, and it was dynoed 210 @ wheels. The real hp on xt is around 260.

just pity the ppl who actually fall for the ad and buy that car

they're gonna go broke sooner or later with that gas-guzzler.
some studies have shown that ppl who buy SUVs have low self confidence and they like big cars that have smaller windows....

and of course, we all know how SUVs are dangerous with the high potential of rollerovers and their crappy two-disk brakes....

I'd be willing to bet it gets better gas mileage than the 350z. Remember this is 4 cylinder turbo, not a V6. On a recent trip to Tn we got 27 mpg (all highway). The weight of the car is very close to the weight but my Maxima but it sure feels a lot lighter.

I know your comparison was aimed at more of the H2 crowd, but this car is more of a tall wagon. No gas guzzler tax, no rollover problems, and has 4 disc brakes with ABS.

my bad...
my comments were mainly targetted at the overall SUV population.... not for the subaru in general
but i know that some SUVs are actually on the better end of the spectrum

personally, i really hate following SUVs when i'm driving, cause they're so much taller... and the way most drivers handle their brakes really **** me off... because (although this particular suv has 4 disc brakes) it's still quite hard to pull such a heavy car to a stop compared to compact cars. (for example, look at the honda crv.. it's so much bigger than the previous model, and it STILL only has 2 disc brakes)

2.5-liter DOHC intercooled, turbocharged aluminum-alloy 16-valve 4-cylinder horizontally opposed Subaru Boxer engine with Active Valve Control System (AVCS). Iridium spark plugs. Sodium-filled exhaust valves.
Horsepower 210 @ 5600 rpm
Torque (lb.-ft.) 235 @ 3600 rpm
Curb Weight (pounds) (w/Manual Transmission) 3225

So it weights more than a Z coupe with a manual transmission, has less HP, less torque, and smokes a Z??? I'm obviously missing something.

Yeah, they're underrated. Subaru did this so it would not compete (on paper) with the WRX Si. When we got ours I noticed it felt as fast if not faster than my 255hp Maxima. Dynos have shown that the XT is somewhere around 240hp...not sure on torque.

In another thread someone said that the original ad was chopped. However, my apologies to you. Because I did a little digging on google and it seems a few people have actually seen the ad in the Wall Street Journal. So I guess I was wrong.

I do stand by the fact that it is false advertising though How can a heavier car plus a family of 5 and a dog (with less HP) beat a 350z? It can't. Regardless of AWD, in the 1/4 the XT is gonna lose.

It's definitely clever. But did you see the chopped version "the mighty 350z just got beat by two dikes and their cocker spaniel. "

That one made me cry I was laughing so hard!
