Question 2004.5 ECU Reset Procedure?

I believe it's been changed since the 04's and earlier. TS's procedure doesnt work. Anyone care to enlighten me? Otherwise I guess I'll do it the old fashioned way (disconnecting the neg on the battery)......thanks

No it hasn't. It works. I've done it twice. In the TS directions it states that the timing is critical. They weren't lying. Try again.

Timing is VERY critical. It may take a few tries, but you'll get it.

This procedure just resets the ECU, without erasing the memory on your stereo and Gawd knows what else.

The ECU stores certain data in memory regarding performance variables, Error codes, etc. When you either perform the ECU reset using the gas pedal sequence or disconnect the negative lead on the battery for 24-ish hours, you cause the ECU to forget that data and start with a clean slate. This may be needed after certain mods so that the ECU isn't controlling the engine using stored variables that don't really match the actual inputs that the engine is seeing.

Youre doing it right, as long as the CEL doesnt come back on when you start the car again, youre fine. It's sypposed to keep blinking up until the end of the procedure to when you shut it off.
