When I first got my Z I was fartin' around and decided to open her up. I got to 135mph in a hurry (6mt) after that I was a little shaken by the speed and backed off. Since then the highest that I've had her was 120. The car has always been stable but I just didn't want to do anyhing that was life threatening.

my C6 i got ordered is rated at 189!!!!!! so we shall see
My C6 was still pulling strong at 160. 189 is probably there, but it'll take more room than I've had to find it. The car felt glued to the road at 160.

I never tried to push my 350ZR over 120. There was more there, but the buffeting was getting intense.

Man that sucks. Would it have been better to slide the back end to slow the car down ? Maybe turn hard and go full throttle?

cehome> Some cops are just itching to pull someone over. Trust me I know. I've had nothing but bad experiences with the police while driving. Most of it because of profiling ********.

or maybe they're just itching to cite/arrest law-breaking citizens who do 100+ mph on public highways?

haha not saying i am an angel, i've hit those speeds.. but dont generalize cops because they have a tough job and many ARE doing their job. if you were a cop, you'de throw the book at people doing those speeds as well.. especially when you see so many deaths and accidents.

There was a discussion on the Porsche board regarding this vid. And the general consensus (from racers) is that it's best to steer straight. If you know you're gonna crash, then it's best to steer straight and be in control than spin out of control. If you induce a spin, then there's good possibility you may hit the tire wall sideways where there isn't as much protection. This spin will further illustrate my point.

Anyway, I hope you guys aren't near me (or anybody else for that matter) when you're doing your top speed runs. A slight dip in road or nail in the tire can make your car go from stable and planted to unsettled and spinning faster than a flea's heartbeat.

But what do I know, I totalled one Z32 doing crazy (and stupid) crap like this before. Fortunately, I did not hit anybody during my act of stupidity. I am lucky to be alive to reflect on my "invincible" years, but all it takes is one mistake to really ruin your day.

Anyway, I know what I say is gonna fall on deaf ears. I just hope you guys attend a HPDE or two and experience high-speed car control (and perhaps spinning). It may just save your life one day.

Michael.

One interesting thing is, Germans with Autobahn with no speed limits (although they have limit on many areas now) cruise fast lane in 130-150mph and their traffic accidents per capita isn't that higher than U.S.

Something to think about. Hmm..

Fastest I've gone is 147, 6 mt, TEIN suspension, 275/35/19 toyo t1s, aero kit. Felt solid, not floaty like my previous car (2g eclipse). Had alot more left in her to push it but traffic was coming up pretty fast. I usually take her up to quick sprints of about 130 often, but only for a sec then brake hard back to 65.
