Default Clearbra doors to prevent dings?

I know, stupid question, flame on. I hate door dings so much I've thought about clearbra-ing the doors. I had my Z's front, headlights, and hood done.

The 8mil 3M material probably woudn't prevent a bad ding, but should prevent small dings and scratches. Maybe a 4 inch strip of 15mil material at the highest point of the door or doing the whole door in 15mil.

Has anyone done their doors? Show pics if you've done it. What do you think?

it wont prevent dings whatsoever, maybe scratches, but i think the front end (bumper headlights) is more than enough to cover... besides when you wax your car dont you want to feel that smooth baby butt surface?... dings happen no matter what on every driven car... can only be avoided by parking miles away from anyone... i would leave the doors alone...

I've read all the ding threads and I know what to do, but you know someone is going to ding your car sometime.

With my old car I remember parking out of the way in the back of a restaurant only to come back and find a pos '67 Rambler next to me and a ding on my door clearly from that car. Another time while living temporarily at a hotel I parked in a corner stall that was about 1 1/2 stalls wide. Perfectly safe right? Wrong, some other pos car squeaks in the space between me and the car in the stall beside me. I could tell how long I'd been at the hotel by the number of dings on my car.

BTW, I like those Celicas. Small and light. I grew to like the styling a lot. Too bad Toyota didn't make it AWD or RWD. I can't wait to see the new Supra

Here's a idea! Aftermarket companies or a company should make door panels like the Saturn Ion! My neighboor have one of those and it really works! you can literally push in the door panel and it will pop back out.

If only the Z could have the weight of a celica, we would RULE THE WORLD!!!!

I've driven the celica before. The handling and brakes are superb, but the HP is just not there.

Must...stay...on...topic...

I just checked Yahoo autos. The Celica weighs 2500 pounds. Good Lord, can you imagine a 2500 pound 350Z?

Back on topic. I remember sitting in a grocery store parking lot in my old '70 Mustang. I was waiting for something and reading a magazine I think. A woman parks next to me and opens her door so hard it shook my car! I did nothing, just looked at her dumbfounded. I don't remember if she ever saw me sitting in the car. The old Mustang was nothing to worry about and she probably wouldn't understand a lecture on respect and courtesy. Lots of clueless idiots out there.

Dings are a problem that you can do very little about. Clear bra prevents scratches such as those from small stones and sand that may hit your front lip etc. But it wont do much about large objects propelled at high speed aka other cars' doors.

My Zee (Gun metal) should be here later today/early next week and I know dings will happen eventually. Parking spaces are smaller here, parking garages in this city (Barcelona) are retarded and people have no respect for other people's property either (parking using "sound" and "touch" is a normal practice around here, so I rarely parallel park on the street only it its for a few minutes or in low traffic area where people don't leave/come too oftern) ... so yeah, my first ding will happen w/in a month of me picking up the car.

I stripped a good bit of weight off of my Celica and I'm guessing it's about 2400 lbs.

Light and VERY agile but no power whatsoever.

Anyway, door dings are an unfortunate and inevitable thing - assuming you actually take your car places.
