Default 30K miles maintenance

My dealer told me that I need a coolant flash ($80) and transmission fluid flush ($120?) because of 30K miles.

I remember something about transmission sealed for life... or was it gearbox?

Anyway anybody know a link to a DIY for 30K maintenance? I'm quite sure if my dealer quoted me $200, I can do it for $50. Any chanse to screw something bad?

Thanks

coolant flush is diy, tranny fluid should be able to get done at another place for 60-70 at the most.

also id recommend changing your diff fluid since you autocross that would b like 50-60. how bout fuel filter, pcv valve, etc are those part of 30k? im coming up on mine so plz share.

Dealer only mentioned what I said. I wish I can find out more... Gotta check the manual and service book should be there somewhere.

yeah, my dealer recommended Coolant Flush, but he didn't say anything about transmission flush.. I heard it's not a good idea to do transmission flush.. Maybe just change out the transmission oil...

no issues at all. except standard stuff from existing NTBs: amplifier, left window grease, hatch not opening. All fixed in one day. Well, hatch still won't go up by itself.

Your 30k maintenance according to the service manual only calls for an oil change and an air filter replacement. Everything else is inspect and replace if needed. Since somebody mentioned that you autocross, I would definitely change the tranny and diff fluids. Hell, I did that at my 30k maintenance and I hardly ever track the car. As for the fuel filter, it will never be replaced seeing as how it is part of the gas tank and "maintenance free." Not sure about the PCV valve. The coolant on my car is in very good shape (my older brother is an auto tech at a local dealership).

Things you should do ...
- Oil Change
- Tranny Fluid Change
- Differential Fluid Change
- Air filter replacement
- Inspect drive belts, replace if needed
- Inspect fuel lines, replace if needed
- Inspect brake lines/cables, replace if needed
- Inspect brake pads/rotors, replace if needed
- Lube suspension parts (WD40 works well here)

Things you might want to do, but probably do not need to ...
- Coolant flush (manual says to replace at 60k, then every 30k)
- Anything not listed above.

The inspection items above are just that, check em out and see if they are worn down or need replacing. The majority of these items will be fine however.

Hope this helps.

A transmission flush is changing the tranny oil, but at a pressurized setting in order to get all of the old fluid and metal shavings out of the case.
