Red face Went to get window fixed, now I'm getting a new tranny!

OK so I recently posted about my recent problems with my driverside power window. So I took the car into the dealership and I wanted to do some maintenance and repairs.

1. Diagnose and Repair Driverside power window
2. Clean up window greasing
3. Diagnose fuel gauge problem
4. Check seat for premature excessive wear
5. Check transmission (3rd gear grumble only after aggressive acceleration when I let off throttle and it doesn't happen all the time)

So all the parts were ordered and the guy from the dealership who called said this included a new tranny...I was almost floored. He said Nissan wants all trannies that exhibit any kind of problem...either they don't want the dealership to mess with it or they are on some kind of fact finding mission is my guess.

I had a 2000 Acura TL and it needed its tranny replaced twice (Honda upped the warranty to 7yr 100k miles for the tranny as it was a known problem and there is a class action lawsuit going on that I am not a part of). Ugh...does anyone make a good tranny?

Is the new tranny paid for by the warranty?

Can you describe this in more detail? I have noticed my car gets a weird vibration in the shifter and grumble/moan around 4000 rpm's on deceleration. It also does it mainly in 3rd gear but in 1st and 2nd gear also. It will stop as soon as clutch is depressed.

I took my car in becuase if i downshift into 3rd at 50MPH or above it grinds. Their response: "Dont downshift into 3rd above 50MPH"

Looks like you have a good dealership. Mine blows.

Sometimes I'm at a redlight...light turns green and I accelerate through the gears (mind you I'm not drag racing or anything like that)...once in 3rd gear I will let off the throttle and cruise. Once I let off the throttle I can hear what sounds like a nut being tossed around inside the tranny case and a low frequency vibration. If I apply throttle again or shift into 4th the sound and vibration disappears. I do believe it has gotten progressively worse in frequency as to how often it occurs.
