Exclamation Liquid Aluminum Terminated

Just read on another thread response that Liquid Aluminum will be terminated as a color choice for 2005.
Can anyone confirm this?
I just purchased a new Touring Z w/ Nav. in this color.
My fisrt choice was LeMans Sunset (none are available in our area with the equipment I wanted)
I know opinions are divided, but when Liquid Aluminum is next to the current Silver you can see a HUGE difference in brightness.
The current Silver isn't close to the shine of the Liquid Aluminum.
For those responding on the extra cost for the Liquid Aluminum: My dealer "caved in" easily on that when we negotiated the sale price.
So that was non-factor in the decision.
Final question: Since this color may no longer be available, and it obviously is not on many '04's - does this possibly set up for greater value in the future?

I don't think it would up the value at all on it being discontinued. Brickyard was a unique color, having 3 silvers isn't.

hmmm, anyone else want to jump in on this?
Poison = no collectible value added for Liquid Aluminum.
No offense to Brickyard, or the fact that 3 shades of Silver are/were offered.
However, a limited run color (with Liquid Aluminum being the BRIGHTEST silver) being offered for only 1 year............

That's too bad. I really liked that color.

I noticed that it was taken off of Nissan's site a few weeks ago.

davey: Totally agree with you.
You have to see, IN PERSON, the difference between Liquid Aluminum and Chrome Silver.
There is no comparision. Liquid Aluminum blows the other color away.
It's kind of cool to have this color, now that they have discontinued it.
But I wonder what the thought was behind charging more $$$$
for it?
Besides maybe trying to drum up hype/interest in a limited production item, does anyone know the reason?
Where there specific/unique production applications to get this paint on the car? Perhaps multiple layering?
Finding out more about this from someone that know's would be interesting. Anyone else with thoughts or input?

It will do nothing but help the resale value, assuming you didn't pay the $1100 for the color in the first place. You would never get that back.

lascala:
Nope, as mentioned above - the dealer did not charge extra for the cost of the paint.
However, I am now real curious as to the reason for the extra cost for this color considering it was a 1 year option that we will most likely never see again.

Id say brickyard and liquid aluminum could be considered "special editions" though oddly nissan did not label them as such(they should have, general public is a sucker for that).

therefore even though there are 3 silvers, gotta remember silver is popular, well over 50% of the Z's out there are one shade or another of silver. so when it comes time to sell, your likely gonna find a fella looking for any of the silvers, and liquid aluminum might be a perk.

miata has made tons of special editions, the colors werent even always unique, but they did label them as special. their resale value is higher none the less.

liquid aluminum for free=win win situation.

I was told that it was a 3-stage paint process.

On a clear sunny spring day, I saw two Z's parked next to each other on the dealer's front display pads, one a Liquid Alum, the other Chrome Silver. The difference was obvious but not that impressive. Certainly not $1100 more impressive. It didn't sell well so Nissan is dropping it.

Probably the same reason that Brickyard was dropped, it didn't sell very well compared to all the other colors. It's main problem is that in the bright sun, it's a beautiful color; cloudy or at night - it looked brown. No offense to those who have one, but the first time I saw one was a gray winter day and I had to wonder "what were they thinking when they came out with this poo-poo color?"

I doubt either were "limited edition" colors.

Both the brickyard and liquid aluminum seem like limited edition colours right now... and in the future if they're never sold again, i personally think that brickyard will hold it's value better in comparison to liquid aluminum.

I know side-by-side it may be more noticeable a difference from the chrome silver, but to be honest, when your just viewing it from afar, or drive-by... i wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two.

And even though i don't prefer the brickyard colour for myself... it is a more noticeable colour to distinguish... when i see that colour on the road, i say "wow..." and remember that it was only sold for a year... it's definately rare.

If i saw liquid aluminum (since there's so many silvers in my city) i just say "there goes another silver". I don't mean to offend owners of the silver Z's either... it is a very nice colour choice, but there's just too many of them around to stand out as much.

LA is gone for 05.

I doubt LA Zs will have much added value since there are two other silvers but who knows.

Neithor Brick nor LA were designated limited editions by Nissan.

I've seen liquid Aluminum in person and the varation between it and Chrome Silver is noticable but to similar. really depends on the angle and the sun to tell at times.

IMO The colors are just too close.

CS in the morning light look almost as bright as LA. I have come into the garage at work on a number of occasions where I thought someone else besides me and AmpharmB had bought a Z.
But when I got closer it was his.

Now with the Brick I had people say (at night) who bought the Black Z. Or who has the Root Bear Brown Z.

Now that I have Rims it doesn't happen.
Silver is everywhere. I only get excited when I see white or red.

None of the colors will ever have more value than another, but they may make an easier sale.

I dont think 4-5 years later your LA is going to sell more than my DB when our Z has 10 million paint chips on the front bumper and hood lol.

Collectible cars or items are only worth to collectors.

I purchased one of the first S2000's in Grand Prix White.
Rare color, at the time I could have sold it with what I paid for it. I kept it 3 years and tried to sell it, people wanted it for 5000 less. So keep in mind, unless the car's productin is limited--say around 1000 and then discontinued, chances are it won't be worth any more or breaking even! --unless you don't drive it, so what would be the point?
