The thing is, we preorderers always seemed to know more than the dealers EVER did. Also, we knew it LONG before they ever did.

We were car enthusiasts waiting on our dream car. We spent hours scouring the net for any (and I do mean ANY) little tidbit of info from sources all over the globe. From Nissan insiders who acted anonymously like spies for us to guys who would actually TRESPASS onto Nissan's sacred grounds to snap illicit pics of anything he could find......I'm not going to mention any names but just to give you a hint, it starts with an "S" and rhymes with "Grafremon"

On the other hand, the Dealers weren't necessarily enthusiasts. It is just a job for most of them. They had to know about and sell dozens of models of cars and really didn't or couldn't take the time to investigate things like we did.

That being said, I hope you get your yellow, but all I'm saying is that I have heard that it might not necessarily happen.

Good Luck!

Just to give you an example of the extent we would go to get any kind of info, some of us (not me of course ) would regularly check a web page that had a web cam of a large parking lot in Norfolk, VA. This camera was trained on the exit gate and you could (occasionally) see a truck exiting loaded up with cars. The cam would refresh every 2 minutes or so.

My car (as did many cars delivered in the eastern USA) came into port and unloaded onto this lot. Alas, I never did see my car on the web cam (or any other Z for that matter) but this is just one example of things we did during the preorder days!

Are all you guys that supposedly are getting yellow, somehow all current or past Nissan dealer employees?

Could this be a "special" limited release to only a select few here in the states?

no the thing is most dealers are not willing to order the ultra yellow for a customer as they are hoping they can again charge over sticker for the new color

come november ill riding in mine as long as it doesnt make the car look cheap

if not id be willing to sell it to a forum member as i still cary my sales liscense ...lol

Bonz, I may be wrong, but I get the slight impression you resent the yellow Z coming to the states. Tony gives you info from about the most reliable source available right now but it seems as though you're still in denial and keep saying you hear it's not going to happen. I might be wrong, but if not, how come you dont seem to think it's going to happen?

Huh?

To be honest with you, I really couldn't care less. I'm not a big fan of the yellow on the Z but I respect those who do like it.

I'm just telling you what I know. There is someone who used to post really reliable inside info back in the preorder days and he is now saying that he heard it was only going to be released in Japan and not here. He was incredibly accurate back then. Maybe his reign has ended with this one but until we all see the streets of the USA flowing with yellow Z's, I have to respect this info.

I've seen yellow on the order form at a local dealership. They were going to order me one but they wanted a $1000 non refundable deposit so I didn't do it.

Wasn't tryin to come off like a jerk, hopw you didn't take it that way. I was just curious why you didn't believe it and you answered the question telling about you're friend, or however you know him. Thanks, guess we play the waiting game now. Seems like we have a bunch of signs pointing to a yellow Z in the USA, however it wouldn't be the first time dealers had to take back their word on preorders.

You should point out to them that "non-refundable" deposits are illegal! You should also point out to them that they are not the only dealer in town, and that you will take your $35K elsewhere.

Non refundable deposits are illegal in Ontario, but I'm not sure what the laws are in the States.

ahhhh, yep.

As for the deposit. I don't think they can just take your $1000 but if the car comes in and you don't like it they should have to give you your 1k back.

In the preorder days, there were dealers DYING to do this! They would LOVE if the orderer said he didn't want it because they were then free to sell the car at WHATEVER price they wanted. There were guys willing to pay up to 5-6K over MSRP back then since the cars were so scarce.

There were guys selling the RIGHTS to their preorder on e-bay. In other words, they would sell their slot for a car at the dealer to someone else and include their deposit cost in the sale. The buyer of this "right" would then STILL have to pay for the cost of the car to the dealer.

I don't think it"ll be that way now though!
