WRX - Give me a break!
Hmm... I agree there is no reason to verbally assault either way. I considered getting a WRX at one time. Good performance for the price (sound familiar to anyone?). Subaru's have reputation for reliability (also sound familiar?). What it came down to is that it is butt-ugly and an old design. If the nextGen WRX has a seductive body wrapped around it, it could be a tougher choice for future buyers.
Of course, by that time, I'll have logged plenty of miles in my Brickyard Z!

Not trying to be verbally abusive. To me, it looks like a family mini-station wagon. I would not care if it had the performance of a Porsche. Like Andy said, if it had a seductive body on it, I would consider it.
NYCZ,
Ditto. I don't understand the WRX fascination and I wish it would go away from this board so we can talk about more pressing matters, matters that truly have merit.
Z vs Rice Grinder comparisons not allowed.

You know, when S2000 owners trash talk us, its all in good fun and we both have a mutual respect for each others beautiful machinery.

That said, I can respect a WRX but I wouldn't buy one. If I wanted an AWD sedan I'd get an A4.
I love the WRX, and with the STi comming, it'll be even better. You can have a lot of fun with 4WD and I am fascinated with WRC. I'd like to get one for a winter car. I don't agree with bashing others, mutual respect is what I'd like to see. I have 2 friends with WRX's and we'll be cruising together for sure.

Nicely stated.

You obviously have no respect for other folks machinery the way you bash the WRX. If the WRX owners want to bash 350Zs, that is their problem. If you bash them back, you're just as bad.

The Z turns heads, no doubt about it. Just be careful, because there are a lot of slightly modded WRXs out there that will show you their back side pretty easily! (yes at over 100mph too, as that is where you all seem to think performance is most important)

Hmm.. why do those cars sound better? Just because they're "cooler" cars? Seems like you're just listing off all the more exotic 4-cylinders you could think of.

Um, are you serious? Have you even heard ANY of the cars I've listed? I'm having trouble understanding the logic behind your post.First of all, the S2000 has a beautiful, high pitched F1 like sound. This is 9,000 rpms we're talking about. And if you've ever heard a Lotus esprit, you wouldn't even think it's a four cylinder car (the older ones that is). Both it and the e30 M3 have very nice low growls on full throttle. The wrx on the other hand sounds alright, but no better than say an Audi TT...mainly because all the "cool" sound comes from the turbo spooling up (which you can barely hear on the WRX anyway). Hell, I'd even say the TT sounds better than a WRX. And the list goes on, but I don't feel like going through all the 4 cylinder cars I've ever driven and listing them out here.
ps the s2000 and e30 m3 arent exotic.

And what basis do you have to say that I4s don't make very inspiring sounds? Sure some don't, but some do. Again, have you ever heard an S2000? I'm still having trouble understanding your argument.
well...the WRX doesnt look that bad in a C-west Kit. But if comparing in stock mode..I've gotta say the Z car looks much better. I think the problem with the look of the WRX are its headlights, they kinda look like....frogs? But then I gotta say, turbo cars have a lot more space for performance upgrades.
BTW, any makes bolt on turbo kits for the new Z? HKS maybe?

Now, boys, play nice.
I will admit that the WRX has some nice features to it. However, I think it looks like a station wagon jealous of fast cars. Everyone has a different opinion, and if someone likes that little puddle jumper, well, that's their problem.
But it's certainly no reason to get all huffy when someone talks trash about our beloved Z. We know it looks better and anybody would love the way it drives and handles, not to mention, the way is sounds.
Anything has upgrade "potential," but in the end, a car is judged by its OVERALL appearance and performance.
Just my .02
