What a confilct , A Z or a G35

I was willing to pre-order a z but the confusion that was caused by choosing either the touring model or the track model delayed this decision, however, when I saw the G35 Coupe I was really blown away. I really found what I liked in this car which made my decision be based on the test drive with both the Z and the G35 Coupe. Personally, I would recommend for everyone to wait till they see the Z or the G35 and test it by their own not by someone's else .because you will buy the car not who reviewed the car or had the chance to see it ,especially when we talk about a cars that are been totally transformed
There is fairly significant difference between the G35 Coupe and the 350Z that I think people seem to often forget: Wheelbase. The G35 Coupe shares the same wheelbase size with the G35 Sedan- I believe it is about 112 inches. The 350Z on the other hand has a shorter wheelbase (~106 inches off the top of my head...confirm on nissannews.com). This means that the Z will almost defintely have an advantage in the handling department- the Z's handling will be much sharper and more performance oriented.
Also, the G35 Coupe will certainly be heavier than the 350Z, and we all know that weight detracts from spirited driving.
If performance driving is a priority for you over luxury, the decision is a no brainer. Of course the wheelbase difference might not be too noticable, you'll probably be able to option the G35 with equivelant performance bits as the 350Z (brembos, 18 inch rims, etc...), but I suspect in the end, the cost will be higher for the G.

Yeah I find myself leaning towards the G35 some days as well.
Things I really like about the G:
A Sunroof.
A back seat.
A trunk.
As cheesy as it sounds, stereo controls on the steering wheel.
I really think the look is drop dead gorgeous.
Things I really like about the Z:
Weight is better
It is a TRUE sports car
Looks a bit like a porsche
Very hard to say at this point. If my Z doesnt arrive until October...I may just wait and get the G. I'll have to see what the pricing looks like though.

I agree, the G35c makes the decision a tough one.
I've been going round and round on this. Yes, its wheel base is 8 inches longer (112.2 vs 104.3). Yes, it will probably be a little heavier. Yes, it will have slightly less power ("175+" so what maybe 182?)
BUT
You get rear seats. You get a real trunk. The rear seats fold down for even more roomy trunk (no issues with 2 sets of clubs here!) Performance will still be good (0-60 less than 6 secs). Insurance will be MUCH less.
I look at the G35c as being the 2+2 version of the 350Z, much like the 300z was also available in a 2+2 version. I'm going to have drive both (too bad I can't afford to buy both!) before I make my decision. I think that will clarify things best.
Yes, it's a hard decision, but on the bright side, its also a decision where you can't really go wrong. Both are great cars.

After looking at the new spy pic of G35coupe, I really like how it looks out of the show room floor. The things I like about it are:
sunroof
backseats
more luxury looks, inside and out.
more standard equipments
4yrs/60,000miles warranty
It will be out around Nov. I am not sure what the starting price will be, Motor Trend says that it will be around $28k. Nissan NY Press Conference says it will be under $30k. I am guessing $28,500.00 for base sports.
Dealer around Houston are taking deposits already. One ask for $650 and other ask for $1000. It is refundable though. I think I will just go put the deposit down so I can secure a position before the car gets too HOT!
Btw, I believe G35c will definitely do 0-60 under 6.0, and 1/4miles probably around 14.0~14.1sec. This is with 3300lbs of weight and 280hp. Who knows, we might see more than 280hp on this baby if 350Z gets 300hp!

Hmmm..I don't see it as being that black and white VQ.
I can see one leaning more towards the lux side and one towards the performance side...but I don't thinkt he G35 is just about lux. Many of the reviews put the G35 on par with the 3ers from BMW..that's good company...I think the term is performance coupe.
If I wanted to pure luxury I would just get a 4 door sedan like a Q45 or LS430.

Me... 350Z because I love the interior, depsite the amber lighting scheme. Oh yes, opportunity for stereo upgrades.
G35 coupe.... sophistication, but I want more sportiness that that. Also, look at how the stereo is "integrated" to the console. Upgrading wouldn't be fun.

well it's nice to see that it's a debate over two nissan models, not between a nissan and, say, a bmw or porsche model. so nissan ends up winning anyhow. go nissan for making such desirable models...i never thought i'd say that a year ago.

For me it's simple:
The 350Z is a sports car, the G35 is not.
Granted, the Infiniti has the look and feel of a sports car, but when you get right down to performance... it just isn't. I'm selfish, I don't want or need a backseat. And another thing, I just don't care for the front end of the G35... It's not nearly as aggressive.
