Has anyone had success in getting the sticker down on the Zs? Or are they just too much in high demand? Could I knock the sticker down at all on a Touring?

Alot depends on where you live.
In the Philly area, dealers are dropping $$$ off the price.
Over $3,000.00 dropped off the price in July, 2004 on my new, fully loaded liquid aluminum coupe, touring, auto, w/navigation.
Not sure if dealers in Erie area are looking to deal or not.

Yeah you should be able to get a 2004 for less than sticker. I would say $1500 off for sure.

I will be buying it in Spring of '05 though. I think that would be a high demand time. Weather is just getting good and the new models are out.

And I live in two places. Erie, PA(home/weekends occasionally) and Pittsburgh, PA(work/appartment)

I managed to get a dealer to drop a 2004.5 Touring to 100 over Invoice and also work alot with me on the Tax. I.E. not having to pay the tax for oh say 60 days. So with 2005's coming out in the near future you should be able to do pretty good.

Btw I live in Georgia, but was dealing with a dealership in South Carolina.

I plan on jumping back and forth between atleast three dealers. Two in Pittsburgh and one in Erie. And I'll see what I can do. I got about $125 over invoice on the eclipse by following a consumer report rundown. I just bought one for the Z and will buy another when 2005 stats come out. But I figure since they did the changes in 2004.5 then the 2005s should be pretty damn close to the late 2004 sheet. So I am going to base everything off the 2004 report and see what I can get.

I am 99.9% sure going to be getting an '05 as soon as pricing comes out... I have a dealer that will give me $500 over invoice on anything on their lot, a locate, and EVEN AN ORDER. also, dealers get something called a holdback once they sell a car (i think they usually get a few times a year, like for cars they've sold that quarter). The hold back is about 3% i think...

so, suppose they pay invoice for a car... they sell it for $500 over, then 2 months later they get $800 back from nissan... so they actually made $1300, not $500.... So even selling for invoice, they'll still make money....

the deal I have is through the fleet department, where the person is not paid on a % commision on the amount over invoice and the selling price, instead they are paid a % out of the holdback, as well as given bonuses based on the amount of volume they do through the fleet department.

The numbers I have are:

Touring MT

Total MSRP: $33,840(with no added extra options)
Total Dealer Invoice: $30,991
Dealer Holdback: $609
"Wholesale"Price: $30,382

I was told that I should start with the "wholesale" price and work up from there, not the MSRP and work down. Because like you said anything over $30,382(according to those numbers) the dealer profits.

Dealers almost NEVER dip into their hold back. Espically on a car like the Z.

Oh, I don't plan on them going below that. You just START at that price. Then you work up from there. I'd be happy with $1000 over invoice.

Well like novaz said it all depend where you live and how many Nissan dealers with Zs are in your area. I pre ordered my 2004.5 DB which I got like $800 off my sticker price. In fact I just picked it up yesterday. So far loving it!

Just picked up an Enthusiast 5/AT for 28,900 in Phoenix. Build date 7/04.

This included floor/trunk mats, 4 piece splash guards, cargo pkg, kick plates. I also had them kick in the Aero package, Tint, and Clear bra as part of purchase. I got about $3100 off.

Bro I live in the burgh. I don't have a Z YET but I've shopped around. Cochran is garbage, ******** wouldn't let me take a test drive and said they werent coming off stickers. Guy didnt even know about the car, said the performance model has leather. Bowsers where it's at, they offered 500 over invoice, plus i hear their service is great and they are generally helpful. I'm gonna buy from them when the time comes. Hope that helps dude.

I just picked up a G35 and service was great, I got a good deal too. Funny thing is that most dealerships ripp you off so badly on the Z, and when you compare the difference between a good price on G35 to a ripp-off price on Z that alot of people are paying, its only a 2-3k difference. And I think anyone would rather buy the G35 for an additional 2-3k

I hope you have better luck with you G than I did.
I just traded out of an 03.5 G Sedan into an 04 Z. I could'nt take it any more with the issues I had with car.

I had problems with:

- both front windows rattled and the dealership could never fix them.

- The dash/console had so many rattles I gave up bringing it to the dealer to get them fixed. They finally said "what do you want us to do about it."

- Brakes started squealing around 8000 miles.

- Auto tranny had hard shifting problems.

- Hot engine air from the dash vents instead of fresh outside air. Always loved that one. Dealer said nothing was wrong.

- Severe body flexing. Always fun turning into my driveway and hearing the windows and console pop.

- Motorized drivers seat rocking on rails. Had TSB done, but, did not fix problem.

- Motorized seat controls on side of bolster digging into leg. Had TSB done, but, still extremely uncomfortable.

- Axle noises (Z owners - sound familar). This was the final straw and I traded it.

I know the Z has its problems, but, I refuse to have these types of problems from a "luxury" car that gets a premium price.

Once again, I hope you have better luck and maybe they have ironed out some of these issues in the 04 models.

Should have bought a maxima in the first place.
