Thumbs up Bose And Oil updates

Just to update a few. I only got my new toy 10/8. With some lousy rain days in CT I'm not quite through break-in( just over 1000 now). However, I have experimented to check-out the Bose problems/issues before discussing issue with Nissan. Plus I would like to pursue using synthetic after break-in prior ro winter hybernation. So, I sent two e-mails to Nissan. so below are cut and paste info of replies I received. Bottom line is Bose should get a fix, and Synthetic is OK as long as the oil change guidlines are followed... here's the details
first the bose and then OIL.

I'd suggest others wishing to be similarly heard send a note also to Nissan. And, I suggest writing as an adult vs whinning as I suspect we'll all get heard and listened too a bit better. Maybe not but it doesn't hurt to try.

Below is cut and paste of their reply to me on the BOSE issue and below it, what I initially sent them. Perhaps others may chose similar act to voice our concern. It can't hurt to be heard. But I think it is VERY important we indicate our preferance is they take the time required to do and OPTIMUM FIX vs an adequate fix. In my reply back which thanked them, I also raised the question of getting an official NISSAN statement or acceptance of using synthetic oil as in lew of petrolium based, as long as same grade and equal or better quality standards met. Not sure what I may or may not get back. However, if enough ask them directly vs ***** about it here... we may get better results. At least we can say we tried proper channels if nothing else.

Thank you for contacting Nissan North America, Inc. and allowing us the
opportunity to be of assistance.

I apologize for the delay in my response as we have been experiencing
technical difficulties.

Nissan is working with Bose to address customer complaints regarding the
overboosted bass quality under different driving conditions. We do not have
a specific time as to when the repair will be available, but your local
Nissan dealer will be informed of such procedures as soon as they are
available. Please be assured that Nissan values you as a customer and is
doing everything within our means to fix this concern.

If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to email me.

Sincerely,
Lisette

Hello:

I have been following a lot of Talk on the Z forum http://www.zcar.com
about the common problem most are finding with their touring model BOSE
sound systems.

I also have the dreaded boomy bass that comes and goes... particularly at
lower listening levels say < 10 ( even with Bass set @ -5) , and it is much
more pronounced on the radio vs CDs... but still there with CDs...haven't
checked tapes yet.

Anyway, I understand Bose is troubleshooting with a car or two for a fix but
wondering if they have predicted a realistic time they think a fix will be
available. It's quite sad that not enought experimenting and testing took
place to prevent such a annoying problem from showing up. It's far from
subtle. Bit not as noticable at loud playing levels... and maybe that's why
not pickup sooner?

Being an electrical engineer for ~29 years I am willing to wait until it's
done RIGHT vs RIGHT AWAY!

So, I'm officially registering my complaint as another Touring model owner
with this problem. Other than that I love the car

OK
NOW for the response I got on OIL

I would be happy to address this issue for you. Although we do recommend
mineral based oils as stated in the Owner's Manual, you are still able to
use synthetic based oils for your regularly scheduled maintenance. Please
be aware that you will still need to change your oil according to the
maintenance schedule Nissan provides to maintain your warranty.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact
us.

Sincerely,

Alexandra Ames
