Default The Hard Goodbye (includes remedy:)

Well folks, I finally did it -- sold Vin #11 of the 350Z.

My '03 Chrome Silver Track is now in the proud and capable hands of a new owner -- it was a difficult goodbye, but one that had to happen given what I purchased a few weeks ago..

It simply didn't make sense to have two sports cars, with neither of them being daily drivers -- play toys only.

2004 SRT-10 Viper
Special Edition White Mamba #146 / 200
505 Cu. In.
550 Hp

Upgrades (all Viper full warranty parts installed)
Hi Flow Cats, Headers, Corsa Exhaust.

I'll still be around, still a member of my local Z Club. Still love the Z - will always hold a place in my heart -- the best V6 on the road.

Absolutely beautiful!

Good luck with your new car, the Viper is definitely a whole new performance level up from the Z.

ok, I must know. Can you break traction in every gear!?!

Also, is the Viper any good as a track car? Or is it more of a dragracing monster?

thanks all, I'm pretty happy with the new snake, but I am being completely honest about my hard time with seeing the Z go -- without a doubt the best car I've owned; and I've owned a lot.

As for the White Mamba - breaking traction in every gear -- now that would be hard to do.. at 80mph in 6th gear the tac is dead, completely dead; 5th and 6th don't even wake up until you reach past 100. You'd need runway to do it; it may be possible but I've not done it yet.

I'd also like to address the track vs. straight line question because it's a good one.

Most folks are quite uneducated about the SRT-10 and its design purposes. The SRT-10 is designed first and foremost as a track car. It'll turn at well over 1 Lat G, is at 1 on the skidpad and does the slalom at 73mph. And while these are all good stats, the SRT-10 best is braking --> 0-100-0 in 13.3. These are average scores, Motortrend did the 0-100-0 in 13.0.

So to answer the question - track first, drag second. Although a stock SRT-10 (mine is a sp ed and has a few upgrades) can do the 1/4 in 11.55 which ain't bad either.

The car is a different animal to drive though--fairly steep learning curve and it's not as forgiving as say a Z06. The car demands respect from the driver. But in the hands of a good, capable one, it really delivers.

and yes the car has seen 2222 and lime creek -- good fun stuff.

and BTW -- I can't wait to see the 2005 Z in Yellow...

Very nice... if you have a moment where you REALLY miss the Z, I'd be willing to trade you for my 2003 Redline Track... straight up!

2222 is a very curvy road. Fun as hell, but you do gotta be careful, lotsa traffic.

its a beautiful run too.

SRT-10's are just flat out awesome. I used to think the GT-S Vipers looked better until I saw a black SRT-10 in person. IMO the SRT-10 looks better. Simply beautiful. How many miles you have on that beast now?

Congratulations !! No further words are needed.

I have driven a few Vipers ... WOW -- hold on .. .whole different experience (good) to handle all that engine muscle.

Dream of the same kind of post as yours if / when I get my dream car .. R34 GT-R V2 spec with S1 upgrades. We will see.
