Default Anyone got airbag off switch

I read in the manual that you have to fill out forms to get the airbag off switch installed by Nissan. Has anyone done this? How hard are the forms, how much of a wait? What did it cost to get the switch installed. My local service dept. won't call me back on these questions. I have two small kiddies that I might need to lug around everyone once in awhile so I want to have the option. Plus, my 3 year old is dying to ride in daddy's "sports car."

Rahtok,

You, Sunsetman, 3rdpower and me next week. Four LeMans Sunsets so far in Seattle. Are you on the eastside also?

I asked my dealer about it and was told that it would be difficult to find one that would install the switch...

I'm in the same boat... my little ones want to go for a ride....

Anyways... that's what I was told... something about liability, regardless of the forms you fill out..

I've got a 6MT Touring on the way w/everything but the mudflaps and wings, but it's not supposed to arrive till Xmas. My wife promises a bow if it makes it in time. I'm actually not on the eastside, but down in Kent.

We need a support group for Seattle, you know that?

If you will check the Nissan Canada website you will see that ALL Z's come with SABags and a passenger side cut off switch . That is standard not an option.

Sent the form to NTSB and got back my approval within 2 weeks. Fax it to them for fastest turnaround time. Brought it tto my dealer and he tells me that Nisssan will have the switch soon, so far to my knowledge there have been none installed.

Default Canadian Z

Luckily for us Canucks the Z car comes only in two basic versions +/- auto tranny... either completely loaded with 6 air bags or the track Pack version...however it does NOT come standard with an airbag shut off switch

we also pay around ten K less than you US guys!!!

Wierd. My MR2 Spyder comes with an airbag off switch from the factory.

Not that I've ever used it...

I called Nissan Consumer affairs on Wednesday and was told that the Air Bag Shut Off switch is still in R&D with ETA mid November. The Wiring harness and parts will cost aproximately $500.00 but the dealerships don't know how much it will cost to install yet.
