Default seats for short passenger / driver?

My wife and I just bought a 2004 350 Z. I am about 6'0 and love the seats. My wife loves the exterior of the cars but is really dissapointed with the cheap plastic interior and also says that at only 5'3 she finds the seats uncomfortable.

Has anyone had good luck installing custom seats which are more comfortable for shorter individuals? I usually drive so we would be Ok just replacing the passenger side seat.

The interior of the car was my least favorite thing when I bought the Brick but it grows on you. Tell her Nissan had to sacrifice somewhere to meet a great price point. With upgraded interior & other goodies the car starts at $35000 rather than $27 Gs.

As for the seats, how about a booster seat for her!!

LOL!

I put 2" spacers on my Z seats. Great vision now, but not much headroom. Ideal for shorter folks.

My wife is only 5'0" so her visibility was limited too. I raised the passenger seat 1" in the back and about 1/2" in the front.

Jimmybevis - how did you get a 2" lift? Did you build a custom mount? I couldn't make a 1" lift work in the front because of the angled base at that mount point.

I am 6' and my wife is 4' 8" and can't drive the Z. So I sacrifice and do all the driving. If she needs to go somewhere alone, she has to drive her Miata.

I am only 5'4". No problems although I do have a enough headroom to feel like I am in a cathedral.

As for the interior: I think it is great! Only the nessecary controls that let the driver and passenger focus on what matters most in a Z: DRIVING

I too would like to know how to put spacers on the seat.

1) I'm 5'6" so that'd help
2) I can then fit my amp under my seat

I'd be interested in knowing too . Everyone is saying that they're putting spacers or that they're raising the seat, but no one is saying how!

Same problem except I'm 6'4" and the wife is 5'1".

The touring seats are height adjustable right?

All I did to lift mine was to get some pieces of hard rubber. I got some 1" thick and some 1/2" thick. I just cut some blocks about 2" square then drilled a 1/2" hole in it for the bolt to go through. I forgot, you need to buy some longer bolts. You want grade 10.9 stainless bolts.

I tried to put 1" blocks under the front and back but because the front mount points are at an angle, that tends to shift the seat forward. Doing that caused the back bolts to not line up with the holes. So I put the 1" rubber under the rear and 1/2" under the front and there was enough play to be able to get all four bolts to line up.

Great DIY . How long did it take you? By the way, I agree, I laughed out loud when I read:

Hey, great things come in small packages! Like.. dwarves.. and... bite-sized candy..
