Question Quick Question

I'm going to be in the market for a new car next spring. I've been doing some research over the last few months and have decided on the Z. This is my first post on the forum, but I've been viewing for a while now.

My question to you all deals with the availability of the Z. I've read that Nissan will produce approx. 35k Z. With this number, how long do you think it will take for consumers to be able to purchase the Z for under msrp? Is spring/summer of 2003 too soon? I think I've read that nissan is suppose to be shipping a considerable amount more over next year. Also, how long to you think it will take before we are able to see Zs on the showroom floor? I live in Indiana and had a heck of a time just seeing one.

Any thoughts on the availablity or pricing would be appreciated.

thanks,

one

Not a valid comparison IMO...there will probably be more 350Z's imported in the first year than there have been S2000's imported since they were introduced in late '99.

I expect 350Z demand will be greater since it's a more practical (and cheaper, in some models) car, but supply and demand should balance much more quickly.

I don't think it will take long before they're selling under MSRP.
In my area there are a couple of dealerships that are already
willing to sell one for $200 under. The fact that there were
so many preorders is what is keeping the supply low right
now. There aren't THAT many people interested in this kind of
car, so eventually market dynamics will stabilize and the supply
will exceed the demand.

That being said, how could anyone possibly wait? Order the
damn car and stop worrying about a couple of pennies!

Very easily...the 350Z may be in my future, but I'm perfectly happy w/ my S2000 in the meantime.
