Question Drive Seat Movement

Sometimes when I'm driving, more so when I turn right, I feel a small movement in the driver seat and hear the sound of metal hitting underneath the seat. Does anybody else notice anything like this ?

Yep. This is on my "Things for my dealer to fix list" for next week when I drop my car off to them.

I have it also, took about 1500 miles to show up. If someone finds a fix for this on their own, please share it with us.

I posted this a while back. Every Nissan I have ever owned without an electric seat (4 now without an electric seat) has had this problem. Good luck trying to get it fixed.

I've got it too, in right turns, and plan to have the dealer check it out when it becomes very noticeable.

I've got it too......I tried tightening the seat bolts and it still does it. I started noticing it at 300 miles and now I have 800. I plan on telling the dealer when I take my car in to get the greasy windows fixed...........

I was wondering what that clunking sound was... it sounded like the driver's seat, or something underneath it, but I just couldn't pinpoint the problem.

I've got a lot of wierd rattles developing (2500 miles), but I'm going to hold off taking it to the dealer for a bit since I'm sure new ones will develop...

I just noted this also.. small metel to metal clunk during fast turns or when I weight down one section of the seat... ( Park my Butt )

I dont think it is the bolts.. I do believe it is the track that the chair runs on.. Either the locking mech on the manual chairs isnt engaging completely or the track itself is looser than should be.

Since I treat this Z as my third child IE.. not left alone except at bed time (in bed) in a locked garage.. Its not enough of an irritation to deal with yet ( not leaving it at the dealers alone ).

Those of you that it is.. have them check out the rail system for slop.

All the best

I took my car in for the 7500 mile checkup this week. There was a guy from NNA that I talked with for about an hour about the car. and a senior service guy did the service. We talked about a couple of problems and one was this seat problem. They took a close look at it and said that there was no safety concern since the seat rails were fine. There is a bar that goes between the seat rails to keep them in line and there was some play in it. They said it was OK and the service guy said that a plastic washer might solve the problem. I posted here because I wanted to know if it was just my car or a common problem, and it appears to be the latter.

This is one of those little annoying things that would really get to me. I don't mind some minor rattling or buzzing in the cabin under certain conditions, but seat clunking just makes me think of poor build quality. I know its psychological, but it erks me. I hope my Z doesn't do this. (I haven't gotten mine yet) I hope someone comes up with a fix for you guys, like tightening or bushing the crossbar thing...

Seat moving is quite common on sport cars by my experience. My brother's slk's seats move as well, when I took it to the dealer, they have stupid excuse like "it is build like that to reduce force in case if there is an accident". DOes that make you feel better?

That's ridiculous, considering a moving seat would be a serious safety hazard.

So are you guys just hearing a noise or is it moving? My seat actually moves, then I hear it lock again and it stops moving.
