Seriously I wouldn't trade in a Z for a mini period. The power difference even with a S sporting the Works package is a huge difference. My wife owns a mini cooper and I can't stand to drive the thing because of the power difference.

On a more serious note...
These kinds of questions just kill me. You can't come to a forum who's members are fanatical about a subject and ask a question that runs contrary to the fanatical position. In other words, we're biased - really bad.
flaviano, you're going to have to weigh the advantages and disadvantages, the financial aspects as well as the esthetic value and come to your own decision. You can't and shouldn't ask perfect strangers to help you make a decision that YOU must live with.
BTW, I saw a mini run at lasts month's AutoX. It was pretty quick but it's still a box with wheels.
Good luck!

Yeah, car forums are of course going to be biased. I happen to love the Mini, btw, but I wouldn't do the trade. I'd have both if I could. I know that doesn't make your decision any easier, but that's my take. Personally, I'd take whichever is the financially more sensible route. If you trade in, you're starting over on a new car loan, not to mention all the money you've already put into the Z in terms of down payment and depreciation.
You could always try finding a significant other with a Mini.

I agree with a lot of other here. Don't give up a Z for a Mini. Then again it is you who has to live with it not us. I like the Mini too, cute little car. After seeing the Italian Job with Charlize Theron in a Mini wow.

Straight up trade? the Z is paid off and the mini will be paid off as well? Financially you would come out on top, give that a used base Z sells for what low 20K now? Pick up the mini turn around and sell it and buy another Z and have a little cash left over. If that was the case I'd do it.

I fit in it, but I just hate FWD. There are sporty FWD cars, but real sports cars IMO are RWD (or possibly AWD...).
But, $30K is alot for a Mini! Damn, they're not that popular as they were when they first came out... Hope all options includes Nav, but I've seen dealers tacking on stupid options like ^400 roof graphics (flags) and crap...
