Default I love this pre-order system

I ordered my Chrome Silver Performance model back in April and received my confirmation a few weeks later from Nissan with an expected build month of September and delivery in November. This was confirmed by ZISME a few months ago. After probably 15 or 20 calls to the dealer, I had not obtained a VIN or estimated delivery date. I contacted ZISME again to find out that the factory never made my car, so it will be produced in November and delivered in February. Needless to say, I am extremely angry and disheartened.

Thanks, Nissan.

After reading Rai's thread on "Communication Breakdown" and commenting on his decision, THIS is the reason to go out and get a Honda sportscar and never look back at Nissan. At least Rai got his car within a reasonable period.

Sorry for your troubles because that was not part of the pre-order bargain.

You could look on the bright side.

Hopefully, Nissan will have had a chance to work out some of the initial production bugs before your car is produced.

I don't understand what's the problem to buy a Z right now! Instead of begging dealer for VIN, many people just find cars and bought them. My friend cancelled his 8 month preorder and bought exact car he wanted from the very next dealership in Chicago.

There is Le Mans Touring sitting on dealership in town I work in. It's been there for a week now... Dutch people not really interested in sport cars, I guess.

There seems to be quite a difference in order and receive time depending on where you live. I ordered June 1st. and received Oct 21st. Dealer got 5 in that day and 3 the next day. Hope your's comes soon. So far I love it

gstdtim, same boat here. ordered february 1, though. nna replaced my original order with an unsold unit that is not even built yet and may be here in december. the only thing i really wonder about is how long it would have taken nissan to realize that they hadn't built my car if i hadn't really pushed the subject?

Good question......Apparently, they had already realized that my car wasn't made and resubmitted my order. I am thinking this because my delivery month changed from Nov. to Feb.

It sounds like a dealer SNAFU. They probably never ordered it and tried to cover it up when you started asking questions.

Nah, they definitely ordered it. I got a confirmation from Nissan 2 weeks after I placed my order. I also got the pre-order customer packet.

Yeah, but how much over MSRP did you say it was marked? Maybe now you understand. Unless you luck into a canceled pre-order of a car exactly like you want - or order the exact car you want now - you're going to pay top $$$. Right Vlad? There's a reason this car has been sitting there for a week! (i.e., $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$)

GSTDTIM:

I ordered Feb. 15 and the same thing happened to me when my build date came up in July. NNA found me another car (different color interior) and about a month later, called me and said the factory had built MY car.

Received MY car last week!

Hang in there, brother. They'll come through for you! Keep in mind, it is not the fault of your dealer or NNA; the factory just built another car instead of yours.

I read the title of this thread and thought you were serious. Sorry about your situation. To be fair NNA or your dealer should find a car for you ASAP. I don't think you should have to go through the leg work and aggravation in the hopes of finding a car that you should have by November no questions asked.

That being said I don't think you should buy an S2000 out of frustration. In my situation it was a win-win situation, I couldn't be happier with my S2000. I just got a hard top installed yesterday.

I have experienced all of the frustration with the 350Z pre-order but Zero frustration with the Honda. If I had been trying to get an S2000 three years ago it would have been a different story.

You can't go wrong with the honda (IMO). The resale value is outstanding, the performance is on par with the Z.

I said before that Nissan or some dealerships are not taking us little guys seriously. It's like they could care less about keeping us satisfied. Like we should be kissing their feet for bringing back the Z.

Nissan should pay a little attention to their fan base especially us hard core pre-order people. I could have sold a lot of people on the Z. Now those same people look at me and ask why I went with the Honda. I bet a lot of people that had been interested in the Z (because of me) will now be looking at the S2000.

Hey Rai, I got a honk and a wave from a guy in a red S2000 today. It's been a rare warm and sunny day and he had the top down. I was pretty jealous. Sharp looking car.

I'm still not seeing a lot of Z out yet. I'll give a thumbs up whenever I see one.

Tim:

Given the answers you've gotten from Zisme and NNA, I'd say you have a right to be upset. Forgetting to build someone's order is totally inexcusable. Keep on top of things, and I'm sure in the end you'll get a car worth waiting for, as well as some freebies like an extended warranty, etc.

Just my $0.02 on the topic (and not looking to stir things up), but there seems to be a consensus opinion that going with a different brand name will change things. Were the decision mine, I wouldn't buy into that line of thinking too quickly. In my area, there are tons of marquees who have a reputation for volume sales and "customer service" that lasts as long as it takes for you to drive away in a new car. Every brand has their issues -- it all depends on what you are willing to deal with. Three years from now, I'm sure it will be every bit as easy to walk in and buy a 350Z as it is to buy an S2000 today.

You can always tell the pioneers by the number of arrows in their backs, and for some of us (myself included) this pre-order program has left us with a few arrows.

My friend in Chicago bought it for M.S.R.P!!!! Exact color and configuration! Well he had to buy airbags he didn't originally ordered.

And car sitting on dealership for a week... You defenetly never been to central Michigan. Its a mentality thing. People like ford trucks and chevy blazers here. I don't have much attention with my Z. Nobody knows what it is and nobody cares, I guess. I don't care either, I knew it's gonna be this way, I bought the car completely for my enjoyment. To pick up girls here, I need an Explorer.

1. Well, like I said. You have to luck into getting the car you want if you don't order one. But it wasn't exactly like he wanted, was it. He had to buy the airbags, too.

2. No, I guess I've never been to "central Michigan". I've only been to Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Detroit. If you want to talk about pickup trucks and SUVs, you need to visit east Tennessee!

3. Maybe the Z girls are in another part of town or another state.

Enjoy your Z!

Yes it's more like another state. Last time I was to Chicago we had to drive two Zs around because it was 3 of us. Not that we mind it, no

So when people saw first car, a lot of them stop on the streets and follow it with eyes. Then, when they saw second car following they were totally stunned.

Just a 100 miles across the lake, and such a huge difference.
