350z or G35?
The Z is faster! The G can't beat the Z in pure performance.
I wish the Z had a sunroof option and a backseat though.
Try to get an '04, but if you can get an '03 for cheap go for it. Just remember you may have to take it to the dealer a handful of times to get minor stuff fixed.

And besides, if you're going to heavily mod the car, these things might not even come into play.
The G's are NO WAY faster than the Z, stock for stock. The 05 G's have more HP though negligible. The Z is nimbler and lighter. Yes the G's also come with Brembos but again it's a heavier car anyway.
It just comes down to your lifestyle: do you chauffer your friends around a lot? Do you have or are you expecting a child? Does a sunroof float your boat? Do you actually like having a LARGE ANALOG CLOCK in the center of the dashboard? Do you prefer having a Buick interior versus a sport car interior? Then by all means go with the G.
Now if you: appreciate being in the "true sports car" club instead of a sport sedan half-*** society? Like to be objectified with envious stares and inundated with endless compliments? Get pleasure in giving pleasure and putting smiles on people's faces when you drive around town? Trip out when people rubberneck to check out your ride? Like to go faster than 95% of the cars on a typical American road including the G35?
... then get a Z.

I agree. Don't be scared of the 03's. You can take it to a dealer and have them address all of the minor issues (window grease, rear hatch, etc.) in a single day for free under warranty.

The window grease is fixable under warranty? Really? What is the fix? Windex?

And some dealers offer the Webasto sunroof as an option.

Though the Z is sportier than the G, both are GT cars. Unless you can think of a better reason for why the Z weighs 3200 lbs.
Although the Z is a little on the heavy side, it is definitely more of a sports car than the G. The shorter wheelbase and lower stance makes a huge difference. If you are talking about fun and performance the Z is the way to go. (Reason I traded was because the G just didn't drive like the Z did.)
Only thing I miss are the leather seats, slightly better build quality, LED tail lights and sunroof.

Any comparison to supercars is invalid because of the vastly different materials and dimensions of all the components.
The Z has a good amount of interior space, a comfortable and fully equipped interior, a large torquey engine, and a good amount of understeer. While the Z can be killer on the track, it can't really be classified as a "true" or "pure" sports car the same way an S2000 or Elise would.
This isn't a bad thing. People should be proud that their comfy cars can meet or exceed "true" sports cars. Nevertheless, a 3200lb torque machine doesn't really belong in the same category as a 1900 track carver.

I guess it's all arbitrary about where you draw the line. Some would say the S2k with a power droptop has too many frivolous amenities...and some may even knock the Elise for having a radio!
My point with the supercars was only that the Z is not THAT heavy. As for motors being torquey, tons of sports and supercars have nice torquey motors. I
MO what makes the Z a sports car is that a good amount of practicality (rear seat, storage space a la strut bar) and comfort (ride, ground clearance) were compromised to improve performance. IMO the amount of compromise was pretty substantial - to the point where a lot of people won't like the car. Hence why I'd call it a sports car. But hey, I see your point too. Doesn't really matter as they're all just labels anyway.

I have an FX35 and Z its a great combo.
The near lux of the g35 is downright paltry compared to the FX (we get g35 loaners).
SO get the honest sports car (Z) w/ a killer luxed out S2Uv.
BTW, it takes a while to really believe it, but the FX has real Z DNA. I've cornered my FX at high speeds through sweepers enough to feel the ATTESA rear its head.
TTFX? WHooooaaaaaaahhhhh
