Ok. I believe my dad ordered a Silverstone touring 6MT with all the options last friday. 10-18-02. Now I know the dealers say that it will be Jan./Feb. but I was wondering what the estimated times for different stages would be? For Instance:
When will the order actually make it to Nissan?
When will the order be fufilled? (i.e. built)
How backed up are the orders? I can't imagine they will be too backed up once all 7000 of the preorders are built.
Once the car is built, when will it be shipped to the USA?
How long does the slow boat from Japan take?
And if I am in Charlotte, which port will the car arrive at? Jacksonville? Norfolk?
I've done some searches but couldn't figure anyhting definative out. Thanks in advance for any help.

Nobody can say with much certainty. Back in Sept., or maybe it was late August, when I ordered mine, dealers told me they deliver anywhere from late Nov. to March. Even if we trust them, it's not really in their hands.

 

I don't think anyone can answer all of your questions with any degree of certainty. However, some recent comparisons of schedules that dealers are giving out indicate that cars ordered Oct. 2 will be delivered between mid-Dec to mid-Jan. (They have Order #'s starting with W212***, or similar.) If that's true, then your Jan - Feb timeframe sounds about right.

Follow similar threads that are sure to develop on this Forum while you wait on your car and you'll see when others are receiving their cars. You can also do searches to find past threads on ordering, schedule, etc.

Your dealer should be able to give you an Order# once your order is oficially placed with NNA (first week of November).

Thanks for the replies fellows. I know this is only a fraction of the torture some of you went through.

 

nissan only accepts orders for cars the first week or so of each month. Since the order was placed on 10/18 the order will not be placed untill early November. From there it should be 90 days or less. From what i have heard from friends at nissan is that they are normally there in less than 90 days from the order date. My only advice is to be strong and try not to spend all day thinking about when it will come. I missed the October orders by a day. I am in the same boat. No order number yet.

 

my order was placed on 10/3 i got the order number a week later... and in the middle of next month... i get my vin!!! woohoo.. slowly progressing through the stages... ::
