Question Paint chips.. Is this normal for Z?

1 week into owning Z, I have 2 paint chips on the Z already. 1 on the hood and 1 next to hood. I've read few threads related to paint chips and cracks on this forum.

Can you tell me if this looks normal and they are caused by rocks on the road or if there is defect with how paint was applied to Z?

Is Z's design prone to paint chips? Is that why everyone is getting clear bra?

I'm so mad... now I have to be paranoid every time I drive about getting more chips on my hood and front bumber...

Yeah, the paint on the Z chips easily. I would recommend to invest in a clear bra... It'll save the heartbreaks.

Hmm, go to thread entitled "read this before modifying your Z". It might be helpful for you.

Good luck, Jeff

Which color shows the chips the least overall, and out of SS CS PPW (the three colors I'm looking at)?

Du4L337, the most frustrating thing was when my paint chipped when i leaned into my trunk and my (smooth) belt chipped it!

The paint sucks... get a clear bra or make teh decision to not get aggrevated about it now.

It's a combo of crappy paint and low ground clearance.

Rumor is that the new painting process (environmentally friendly), leaves it soft and chip easily

There are similar complaints about the Maxima so it could be Nissan's method of painting as mentioned.

What color is that? Doesn't look like any of the factory colors unless the white balance was REALLY off when the picture was taken.

Oh, wait...the signature says that it is the new yellow. For some reason it looks green on my monitor.

Mine is showing it as green too.

The front will have to be repainted in a few years. No big deal. The clearbra costs almost as much as getting the front re-sprayed. Kind of a catch 22

The "environmentally friendly" paint system used by Nissan results in a surface that is not very durable. Shrug. Just have it repainted with a good paint system (Dupont, Glasurit, etc).

15 months for me. Paint chips everywhere; hood, bumper, couple on the freakin door. A 1890's style train cow-catcher might minimize some of them though.
