I dunno, the new C6 just doesnt do it for me. Kinda blah. I love the engine, but have yet to see one really go. But the outside is a little underwhelming.

Maybe its just me I guess. I like the Z style a lot more.

I saw the C6 in person months ago at the philly auto show. I thought it was a C5 until I saw the viper copied front.

They seem awesome now, but we all know what will happen soon. Everyones father will have a C6. Don't get me wrong, nice fast car. But just not me either tacomaboy. IMHO they would be supercars if Chevy didnt make so damn many.

That's better than everyone's mother driving a 350!

Now where are those C6 pictures? And how the heck did you get $30k for the trade-in?

Why anyone compares these 2 cars is beyond me.The Z is a good 15-20K cheaper. The Z has never been about being the fastest car.The new Vette is a great performer but you are looking at a 55K car with taxes.Certainly a lot of money.

If I could afford it, I would've done it in no time. Congrats! ...and still... waiting for those pics .

have you played with the G meter yet?

the C6 handles much much better then the C5 in twisties...

do you feel the suspension is stiffer on that or the Z?

To answer your question, I ended up getting $30,000.00 for the Z. and used this + cash to purchase the 'Vette.

ZZtopp: You better just go look at the car, 'cause if you test drive it, you end up cancelling that Aston Marton order.......
while the C6 is a great performer - it pales in comparison to the likes of the AMV8 and 997. Those cars are more than just "numbers". I was actually planning to order a 997S this year, but after my test drive - i think i'll have to wait to see what the AMv8 offers.

I didnt know that they were taking deposits on the Am yet. The 997 that i want options out to ~92K. The AM is *supposed* to compete with the 997 but is expected to bow with a 100K sticker.

DO you know what the standard options will be? Full leather interior (dash etc) Nav? I'm hoping it comes loaded up for 100k - if so, then the germans wont get my money.

The one thing i worry about is the reliability of Am (and FORD) - Porsches are actually VERY reliable.

Damn..2005 cant come soon enough.

UNtil then...I'm still enjoying my Z (however, after flogging the crap out of that 997 yesterday, the Z seems decidedly SLOW with rubbery handling).

I still need to go check out a C6 - but the thing that really disappoints me about the vettes are the relly cheap interiors. I know that they supposedly improved them, but the pictures look pretty weak still. For 50K you should be able to specify a leather, or higher quality dash - not just BS GM plastic.

ah well, you guys with C6..how do rate the interior? Is it better/worse/par than the Z?

on my C6 ive got the sitffer set up with the Z51 so yeah it feels very stiff compared to the Z but it doesnt bounce going down the road like my Z does.

this spring im going to track it at VIR where you just were so then ill get a good idea of how it feels

(check you PM i got a wheel question for ya)
its not going to be bouncy because it is not mid-ship...

I dunno about that......but I will definitely check out Chevy's new baby.

By the way, .....my Z listed for $37,464.00, barely $11,000 less than the $48,500.00 Novaz paid for a well-equpped new one. I'd say that's a damn good value for a 400HP, 4.2 0-60 car.....and I'll bet the new Vette interior is a lot better than the Z.

What about the level of quality? Textures...fit and finish? My 2002 Z06 had an interior feel similar to Tupperware.

i think you can compare these cars in alot of ways

first of all the vette and the Z have two of the richest heritages of any sports cars ever produced. these cars have been around 35 and 52 years . with alot of racing history too, they are icons

the Z is the premier sports car of the East just as the vette is of the West.

both are in my opinion the 2 best sports cars for the money in the entire world

as for the car themselves. just becasue one outdoes the other doesnt mean they cannot be compared

styling is subjective i like them both almost equally for different reasons. although i give the Z a slight edge for its ultra moden styling

but both cars handle extremely well. yes my C6 with the Z51 package does handle better but not worlds better where the Z is completely out of its league

the biggest difference is the torque ansd instant power. the cars feel very different upon acceleration.

ok pricing the C6 starts at around 44K a well equipt one will get you out at 50K

i consider a comprable Z to be the touring because of the leather and features. thats about 35K .

as i said before both good deals for the money
Very well said. The Z and Vette have been going head to head for years. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to remove their head from their bootus maximus. Some years the Z led in performance , some years the vettes did. But one thing the magazines ALWAYS said was how the Z buries the vette when it comes to refinery. There are a few quotes by respected magazines saying this numerous times. Looks are subjective, but the average view I gather from people is the vette is "so common." There are far more many vettes on the road then Zs (I"m referring to all models here)

I am in no way bashing the C6 as it is an awesome machine. But Nissan will answer this soon. Nissan has always been ahead with the technology aspect ie: Did you know almost 800 designs for the z32 seat were rejected before choosing the "right" one. . GM still uses pushrods. They didnt switch to coil per cylinder until what....'97!?!?! Z had it in '90. You can make a 14 year old 3.0 l z32 tt destroy a 6.0 liter C5 on stock injectors, stock internals, stock drivetrain. Alll bolt ons and boost. Japanese dont f**k around. The 350z was never meant to compete with the newer vettes. It was supposed to be a mid-budget sports car. With infiniti already having an AWD model G35, and confirmed reports of skyline coming in '07, I think some of you may regret your purchase

I'm curious to see SCCA results of the two. So far, the 350z has been molesting the likes of severeal high end cars on the track. Just ask FSU_Z33 on 350zforum.com. He has a database of statistics.

To each his own, both cars with heritage. My father is actually considering purchasing a C6. He's always wanted a vette. Then again, he's an "old" guy

I'm sure the 2006 Z06, with most likely 500 (WARRANTIED) HP, will be a tough act for any Nissan vehicle to follow as far as performance goes, the dated Z32 included.
