Default Vent about dealer

I take my car into the dealership for a number of items including putting on my winter wheels. At the end of the day, they won't put the wheels on unless I buy tire pressure sensors ($900 cdn), or have them swapped out of the stock ($200 cdn). They claim that they could be liable if one of the tires loses pressure, I lose control of the car and die. They confirmed that if my car was not equiped with the sensors, this would not be an issue. I know we live in a litigious society, but is it just me who fails to see the logic in this??? enough venting...

hopefully you didn't let them charge you $200 to swap the sensors - that's highway robbery. As for the sensor issue I would agree to sign to the work order saying that I'm aware there is no tire pressure sensor. If they insist, take your business elsewhere. They are just using the liability thing to get some extra $$$ from you

Just park your car outside the dealership, get your jack out of your trunk, jack the car up, replace your normal wheel with winter wheel, and repeat 4 times. Done, and it was free. I can't ever see going to a dealership to swap out wheels. Plus you had to drag the wheels there and you will have to drag the other set home.

Ya... I thought I'd have them do it while they were taking care of some other stuff. THAT was the pain... dragging the tires there and back... gonna put them on myself this weekend.

I tried offering to sign a release... they wouldn't do it under any circumstances.
