I mean, maybe you can tear off the factory turbo and put a more agressive one on? Or start doing forged internals and try to crank up the boost?

The Z seems like it has much more tuning potential and doesn't even have a turbo already attached to it
Not bashing, but you need to learn a little about modding. Cars with turbors, ie. wrx, sti, evo are extremely easy and cheap to mod, with an exhaust and computer reflash you're looking at around 50hp to the wheels, sometimes more. Visit cobbtuning.com, check out some of the performance packages it offers, look at the price compared to the performance upgrade it offers, its incredible, thats why tuners love these cars.

As far as the Z goes, it really doesn't have that much tuning potential aside from a turbo. It is very posible to get increased hp without a turbo, but it comes at a price, usually a high one and the numbers aren't extremely impressive.

Hope you have a little better understanding. I thought the same way you did before I started doing research and stuff. Ask around too, people will tell you that if it's tuning potential you're going for, the Z may not be the perfect car for you.

From when this thread got posted (10-28-2002) until now (9-30-2004), Im sure TONS of WRX owners are puzzled as to why the 350z outperforms the WRX. Here's a hint.....6mph in the 1/4 mile makes a world of difference.

not everyone can afford both... so like most people we stick to one. and since that car is our very own, we have immense pride on the car we drive thus leaving bearly or none for it's rival

Both cars nice in their own respects. I really dont like the design of the WRX but its fun to drive even though its a sports sedan. I would rather take the Evo than the STI. I chose the Z because its a car like no other. I am proud to be a Z owner. Thumbs UP to all Z owners out there.

IMHO that's not right, I can't afford to add an EVO MR and a GTO to my collection right now, but I still think they're bad ***.

IMO, trying to compare the two is the wrong place to start.......the WRX and STI are designed to dominate the offroad rally car circuit......the 350Z is built to dominate track/AutoX.

While I respect the engineering in the WRX and STI.......there is nothing as secz as my "Z"..........and I say that as both a Subaru and 350Z owner.....no comparison!

Your wrong....didnt you read the "How to load two golf bags" sticker that is on the hatch?

If you are a chubby-chaser, I guess you would then have a problem.

Man, its amazing how defensive everyone on this board is getting. I mean, I understand about the pride factor in the car that you own and such, but this thread (all-be-it two years old) is kind of disheartening for someone that is actually on the fence as to which car to get. For the most part, the people on the WRX forums are pretty confident in what their car offers and don't expect any more or any less than what it is capable of. It is true, the cars are completely different from a styling and practicality purpose. There is an aura about a sports car and the Z delivers the feeling that only a 2-seater sports car can. The WRX on the other hand delivers an astonishingly fun ride for less than $25,000. It has a heritage in rally racing that people can relate too and is a great track performer. The Z on the other hand has a 35 year history of providing fun, true sports cars for an amazing value that look great with solid performance to match. I mean, for $20,000 you can get a Neon that is smoking from stoplight to stoplight but obviously appeals to a different crowd. I don't think the argument should be made comparing the Z's advantages to the WRX's disadvantages or vice versa. If you want stunning looks, great performance, and a true sports car feeling, you obviously get the Z. If you want to save a little money, get good performance, and need something a little more practical, then the WRX is the way to go. Both class leading cars but in different classes. Personally, I'm shopping both of the cars and weighing all of these factors, and whichever car I decide on, I'll still keep the same perspective on both cars and respect them both equally.

I"m all about how the car looks...i could care less about horsepower..the Z is plenty quick for me. I love the "you can get a lot faster cars for less money for the Z"....not everyone cares about horsepower....they care about the overall package.

THIS IS DEAD SEXZ!!!!!!

Out of curosity, since an "tin can of an econobox sedan with a fancy engine" can already go as fast as your Z, what are you going to say when that same tin can gets to America in the form of the STi? The STi is going to put the Z to shame. Absolute shame, and it would be fair to compaire them since they will actually cost as much as your Nissan.

The only I response I need to make is this:

You can go to Target or Wal-Mart, and buy "Car and Driver" spinning chrome hubcaps. Who cares what they say about our car when they make spinning chrome hubcaps? Speaks volumes about what a $hitty mag C&D really is.
