leather.. somewhere around 1,000. Nissan now offers leather as a dealer installed option. Actually Katskin seats I beleive. A few options there, good luck finding a good install.

Stereo...why?Bose is the single most overrated name in stereos(followed closely by sony). To start you would have to buy the whole bose system from nissan. has to be over 2,000 just for the hardware. Then you would have to get all new harness adapters because bose uses different ones than everyone else., Then you would have to rewire the whole system to include an output from the new amp you would have to install to the "sub" behind the drivers seat which you would also have to install. You are better off going to a reputable stereo shop (i.e. not best buy or circ uit city or even tweeter) and ask them to install a good system. Give them a price point and the type of sound you are looking for. Probably able to use the stock head unit, a good four channel amp, and four good component speakers for around 1,000 or so. Wont be competition quality but will sound infinintly better than the bose system.

Cant install BOSE in any other model except touring without major rewire of the car. In most cars you would expect that the wiring harness is stock for all, with options either plugged in or not.

Not with the Z. Only the touring is prewired fromt the factory.

$1700.00 for the wiring harness, plus 30+ hours to rewire whole car. not worth it.

I bought an entire BOSE system off ebay the week i got my Z for $100.00 and then found this out. dont even think about it.
BOSE system sucks and that is pretty hefty price to pay for stock and sucking system.

Get your self a nice alpine or sony or something but throw money away.

Leather is $700 to $1000.

I suppose Bose could be added but why?

Lots of us have replaced the really-awful stock stero with aftermarket systems. I spent $1600 on my new system. Thread:

Most aftermarkt seat covers I see look bad. Really cheapens the inside, wrinkels, doesnt look stock, etc.

I love the stereo in my car non-bose, I also like the BOSE but needs more "real" pounding bass. I just added a nice woofer and it sounds amazing. If cost is an isue try the infinity bass link. But if it isnt, I had them build me a custom box behind the drivers seat and used the factory cover to make the whole thing look stock inside. The molded the amp into that compartment behind the passenger seat using that little secret storage bin, so I could throw my books, etc into it still. So I have no wasted space in my car.

I wouldn't knock Best Buy for getting a stereo system, just depends if their mobile guys are knowledgable or not. Besides, I think that if you are putting anything in your car, you should do all of your own research and know what equipment YOU want before you head in to get it. The nice thing about Best Buy guys is they are all non-commission and if you follow their stock reports, the company is moving towards customer centricity...focusing on the customer, not the product, so I wouldn't give them a bad rep as a whole. For your application, it doesn't seem like the Bose is the way to go, I wasn't too impressed with it, unless you are a huge classical music fan (Bose's strong point in any audio application). Get something that looks really nice if you aren't in to the flashy aftermarket look and tailor the sound system to your preferences and budget.

The Bose system as a whole is pretty bad. The 2 amp's and speakers are quite poor. However, the head unit is quite good.

My buddy and I put in new Amp's and speakers, he put in that Sony 2-din everyone is raving about. My Bose Head Unit beats the hell out of his expensive Sony Head Unit. Plus I still have a built in 6 disk changer. He's now adding one at a time. He said he may put his Bose back in and sell the Sony on Ebay.

Agreed. Bose is trash. You'll be much better off with aftermarket stuff.

Bose secrets.

Not knocking the people at Best Buy, I actually just got a job at one. Just meant that they dont even carry Alpine or Somy Mobile ES, or many of the truly high quality peices for the car. If he wants to do it "right" a higher end store would be able to better serve his needs. For an economy system Best Buy is fine.
