Default How many are trying to wait for next year?

Notice I mention the word trying.

As you can tell from the number of posts that I have made that I am more of a lurker who doesn't have the info that the main guys here have.

What I am trying to find out from those guys-in-the-know, do you think I am wasting my time waiting for next years model for performance and to get rid of the bugs? I remember the 90z that had brake problems galore and other assorted bugs.

The more I see of this car, including those awesome vids- Thanks, guys!, the more I see myself going out and trying to find a late preorder.

Thanks for all the great and informative posts that keeps the lurkers like me coming back.

Two points:
1. Pre-order ends on Sunday (or maybe Monday -- the posts have been unclear). Now its possible Nissan could extend the pre-order but I doubt it. As of last week they had sold 6200 Zs and their goal for pre-order is 7000, my guess is that they must be getting awful close. So if your gonna get a pre-order you probably ought to do it this weekend.
2. A lot of people here disagree with me, but IMHO Nissan is going to bump the price up, either during the 2003 model year, or at least by 2004. There have been several occasions in the past where manufacturers have brought a new sports car out for a reasonable price, and then bumped the price up as soon as a few got on the road and people can see them. Two examples: the Porshe 944, came out at 18K in 83, with constant price hikes it was up to $40k by 88 (and priced itself out of the market). Worse, the Viper came out at $35k for about a millisecond before Dodge immediatley jumped it to $55K. Now I don't think Nissan will do a jump like that, but I do think with a $5k across the board price hike, all Z models would still be a good value.

I guess I can see their reason to disagree as Nissan wanted to go with a reasonably priced sports car but at the same time when I bought my 300ZXTT the sticker price was $49k (no I wasn't stupid enough to pay anywhere near that price), a far cry from the low $30k's that they started at early on.

Thanks for the info on the preorder ending.
