Default Sudden change to gear 2

When i drive fast and suddenly change to Gear 2 (of course not at the point that the rev would be too high for gear 2), then i can hear my wheels screezing sound.

would this hurt my car? other than the fact that the tire would just weir out faster.

sorry for my spelling mistake.

That's usually called chirping second gear. And it happens to most of us under Wide Open Throttle (WOT) shifting at high RPMs.

So my question is, if we do this often, is it bad for the car?

Dear Kelvin please do not use this board as your answers guide to driving 101. sorry to be a jerk but your questions can be explained in detail if you just do a search.

here are some amatuers drifting. The 240 with the half black (front) and half red (rear) is my buddy Liberty. This is TX drift they meet once a month and drift for fun. Drifiting is a sport from Japan, thats is starting to get popular here in the US.

The US just had a major drift competition and only the top 5 US drivers are allowed to try and compete in Japan.

You should go drifting with them. Youre so lucky you can actaully find an open space to do this stuff.

It is possible to drift in an auto. If the car has a tiptronic type transmission that doesn't shift at redline like the 5AT it is easier to do than on a regular AT because the transmission will not shift unless you shift it. Most regular ATs can't tell that you are trying to drift so you are at the mercy of the transmission. Just like on the 6MT, you want to break the drive tires loose. On the 5AT, once you break traction, you will keep it a lower gear and use a combination of throttle and brake to keep the car drifting. It's actually easier to initiate a drift with the 5AT because torque multiplication make it easier to break traction. After that it is all skill keeping the car drifting.
