Default its official, insurance said no way

my insurance agent (Kemper) said no way will they insure the Z on our policy. they will if we agree to remove my sister and her car from the policy which will raise her payment by 600$ a year all by itself, and then its not even known what theyll charge for the Z.

we are investigating other companies, possibly progressive, they say they will insure it, but they havent said for how much.

stupid sports car rating.

Did either you or your sister file a claim recently?

I just went to the website an did an online quote, and they told me 823 per 6 months.

I am 26
have 1 ticket
13,000 miles annually.

this is in the ballpark of the s2000, boxster and audi tt
they are awesome and relatively cheap

well... I just got a quote from 21st.

probably the highest quote I've gotten.

I'm 28, clean record and live in AZ.

quote

$1600 for 6 mo.

Allstate has it out here in AZ for about $790 for 6 mos. if you have clead record and good credit.

well the agents been doing some work, and she put my sister onto her own policy with her own car, then switched her location to her college and managed to give her her own policy for the same price.

then the remaining 2 cars (Z and mercedes) are registered to my mom and dad and they can get them both done for 1700 a year.

sounds perfect, except its questionable whether they know I exist(19 male) if they did, they might refuse me just as they did my 21 year old sister.

in the mean time, I tried a state farm quote and with all stuff correct, I got 4000$ a year for all 3 cars. about 800 more than the other quote where we arent sure if they know about me.

my concern is if they somehow find out about me who knows what they will do.

If you're not covered under your parents policy and you're the driver in any accident in any of their cars they will have major problems. Be careful.

yeah we are aware of that, they should know since a year or 2 ago we sent papers stating I was a good student. but since then weve just never heard them mention me.

either way, after a few quotes it looks like its gonna be about 6-800$ more a year to have the Z with me on the policy and my sister on the policy too. not too bad since its going from a 318convertable to a 350Z. and adding a 19yo driver(tho Im not listed as primary driver on the Z, but I am on the policy.)

Not too familiar with the insurance options in GA, but I wanted to pass along my two bits on the topic of insurance.

Don't necessarily go with the least-expensive company. Likewise, don't necessarily go with the company who will insure just about anyone for anything. Research the companies, and go with the one who will be there for you, God forbid you need it. In NJ, the premier insurance company is NJ Manufacturers. They're in such demand that they tightened down enrollment so they could continue to serve their existing customers. They're not the cheapest rates in town, but I had two notable occasions when they were absolutely fantastic to deal with. When my 9 month old Acura was stolen, they provided a loaner for two months, and gave me full market replacement value since the car was less than a year old. (I paid $3000 under invoice, so it worked out nicely!). When my Pathfinder was clobbered by a kid on a cell phone, they once again handled things professionally and in a timely fashion.

Moral of the story: Get good insurance. It's too important a decision to just go with a no-name company with cheap rates.

I'm an insurance agent with Erie. They are a great company, if you don't mind me asking, what agency do you have your insurance with?

I'm with Geico too! I just got my renewal statement: $114.25/mo!!! I traded in my 2002 Acura RSX for the Z. I was paying $145 for the RSX – Go figure.
