My horror story!!
If you consider yourself HIS friend, be happy for him that he got a car that he likes, whether you wanted one first or not and whether it was a financially intelligent decision or not. You should realize that this purchase was a play for your approval/acceptance. It sounds like your friend has some growing up to do. If he strapped himself to buy the car, he won't be able to take care of it properly and in a year or two, it won't reflect the sacrifice he made to buy it. Yours on the other hand will still look beautiful, and then they won't be the same car anymore. Buying the same car and owning the same car are two very different things. You'll see.
As someone said, you should look to the positive. It'll be cool to roll together, turnin' heads at every corner.
Good Luck with your purchase.
