Default My horror story!!

Heres my story and to me its a horror story and has gotten me pretty much upset. I wanted to see if I am blowing it out of proportian or I have the right to be pissed.

Prelude: I've wanted a 350z for about a year now and have been saving for long time. I have a passian for this car like no other. I feel like it runs in my veins.

Explanation of my Friend: My friend who i dont want to mention his name has always been a competive person and always will be. He carbon copies my other friend out fit for outfit, hair style for hair style, etc. I'm going to name the carbon copier BOB. Bob just got a promotion and has a practiclly brand new nissan sentra se-r spec v ( he added exhaust, intake,NOS,system) hes had it for about a year. Bob is known for BSing alot to!

Beginning: A week ago at the most my friend bob asked me to go to a dealership to look at a z. Him being Bob thought hey hes just bsing me he just wants to go look at the car. SO we go and i think hes bsing me liek whatever he just wants to test drive the car.

A few days go buy and he spends a whole day off of work looking at nissans and such. Im starting to get worried. WHy is he looking for a new car when he just got one! Bob is very competitive and will sacrifice anything to get something firsst and or look better than what the other person wants.

I didnt worry and wasnt caring that much, but heres some more insight. I talked to bob on a few occasions and asked why he was buying the z and why is he buying the same model i want. He just says he likes it and just going to buy it right then and there. He knows nothing about the car. Which to me makes no sense. I know alot about the z thanks to the forums. SO he rushes in and buys it just to have it before me. Ive told him i love the car he goes and buys it!. SO im really pissed off and ranting to you all.He just so competitive it just gets to me ruining my pleasure in buy the z. I cant even picture him in it.

I'm just really mad, do i have a reason to be?

He could have bought any other car,but he picked the exact one i wanted and will have.

Some info: hes paying roughly 550 maybe more maybe less a month for 6 years!that insane! and paying over 6k for insurance a year. Not to mention hes paying 25-26k for touring 2003 redline. which is going to be like 40k when hes done paying it off ,something like that.

Anyway this is my horror story and i prolly left a few details out because im so flustered!

SO people give me your thoughts, help ease my pain!

I've got a friend like that, also (see sig).
He always seems to try to compete with me. About two weeks after I got my Z, he buys a Trans-Am and first thing he does is brag to everyone he knows about how much faster his TA is (which proven, wasn't that much faster than he was making it out to be, similar to a lot of the LS1 guys in the racing forum).

I just brush it off and continue enjoying my car. Eventually though my friend came to a realization though and now he doesn't try to compete with me anymore. We just like eachother's cars in general

I'd suggest that you don't worry about what your friend does to compete. I think his competitive instinct will eventually wear off. Just buy the Z and be happy

Plus, how cool would it be to have you and a close friend both rolling around town in two Z's. I'd imagine that would garner lots of looks

That's not exactly a friend. But don't let him ruin it for you. He'll soon get bored of his car while you are going to be enjoying it for years.

I know exactly how you feel. For years there was a guy in highschool who copied me in everyway. Cloths, slang, hair, and all round general interests. Then school finished and i buy a nice 1.8L Lancer. He thought this was his big chance to excel and bought a Nissan 180sx. 200sx to you from the US. Shortly after that it gets written off.

Come time for a new car he started asking me what he should get. I told him the things i would like to have. Holden V8, MR2 etc. I found him a nice MR2 in another forum and he buys it. For the short while i was enviouse, but i stayed with the lancer saving up my cash and bought the sexies looking thing on the streets ( a Dark silver 350 Z Track). One can only guess how he's feeling now.

P.s He crashed his MR2 2 weeks ago :P

Moral of the story: Z's rock, just modify yours to your liking, you sound like you know what your doin more than he does.

Don't worry man, like what KrazY-2K said, just brush it off...
He's paying a s*** load of car payment just to compete with you while you are really enjoying that car after you bought it....
Good luck on buying a Z

That does stink but on the other hand maybe he likes the car too. It is an affordable sports car. Who cares if he has one too, when you get one just mod it and make it different and faster than his and you will feel just fine.

I can understand your view but if I had a friend who liked some car and i also liked it, I wouldn't not buy the car just cause he wants one.

I see this has happened to sombody other than myself. I have this neighbor who just moved in about a month back now. Everytime I saw this girl she said im gonna buy a Z just like yours. I heard this like everday for three weeks, and shes a little strange so I just figured she was full of it. So I get home one day and sure as SH*T a silver one is sitting in my driveway. Granted she has now had it for two weeks now and I notice she has already put a four inch gash in the front from hitting a wall she says, poor car does not even have plates yet. To top it off she knocks on my door a few days after she bought the thing and she says.......I have been smelling somthing funny, from about 100 ft away I said I did too..........it was the clutch! Then she says.......will it always smell like that?, at this point im like if you dont figure out how to drive it yes. I have nothing against this girl but this may be proof that just because you can afford somthing doesnt mean you should. Feel for you man but what can you do? Owe thats right......mod the hell out of yours and leave'm in the dust.

Tell your friend you want to get an M3 and he'll be busting his ***** to save up for that. He'll go broke in no time.

Ditto...I'd be stoked if a good friend got the same ride. We could compare mods, share knowledge, etc. Plus it's not like the Z is a rare car at all. In fact in Htown where I live they are beyond dime a dozen...there's two at every streetcorner.

Tell him about the 2003 feathering issue and say you heard next year's Z's are getting a 50hp bump.

Then say you decided the car has become too common and that you're going to wait for something else.

"Imitation is the sincerest of flattery."

Charles Caleb Colton

I had some guy try to pretend he was me, a mutual friend talked to him he said he worked at the same company as me, doing the same thing etc. The guy pretending to be me didnt know that the girl and I knew each other. She could barely keep herself from laughing.
