PDI / Prep Time????
I got the call this afternoon, 10/30, around 4:00 p.m. My SS Track has arrived at the dealer. YEAH!!!! It's Z time. The only problem is, the sales manager says it won't be ready until Friday, 11/1. What? 2 days for PDI / Prep?? I asked him what was going to take so long and he said "we have to put it into the computer and stuff." He must think I am an idiot. It does not take 2 days to do a PDI. Probably more like 2 hours.
For those of you that have received your Z, how long did the PDI process take? How long was it after the car arrived at the dealer before you took delivery?
Thanks.

Could be a number of things. They might want to display it out front to draw customers, the manager might want to take it home for a night so he and his wife can have a night out, or the mechanics in back (God bless their hearts) might want to joy ride it for a bit.
Either way, I wouldn't object to you being present when the PDI begins to see just how long it takes. It shouldn't take two days to complete the work.

I am going to go out to the dealer tonight to see what's going on. I sent them a letter already telling them specifically not to drive the car. If I go out there and the my Z isn't there because some idiot sales guy is out on a joy ride I am going to flip out.
First of all, your dealer is an idiot for calling you to tell you your car is in but you won't be able to pick it up for 2 days. That makes no sense. If he wanted to show the thing off on his floor, why wouldn't he just wait a day or two to tell you? Mine arrived at the dealership yesterday around ten and they had it ready by 4. That is a little more realistic. No way does it take 2 days to put license plates on a car.
My car was unloaded from the truck at 8:30 Saturday morning. The dealership opened at 9. PDI and paperwork was done, and I was driving away at 11:30. Two days is silly.
All they do is detail it and make sure it runs.

very simple, go up there and argue if you can, see what you can get. but above all, go up there, look at the odometer, and if the miles are not the same later, refuse delivery. make sure its very clear that you are checking the odometer to ensure its not driven.
it wont get you your Z any faster, but in case there is no way for you to take it home today, you can atleast be ensured that no one played with it.

Definitely check that odometer! I would trust any dealership leaving my car sitting there for two days. I would go up there and see what you can do about speeding up the process, maybe talk to the GM. But make sure to keep cool, otherwise they'll be even bigger a$$es.
Good luck and hope no one messes with your car!
