Default Only had the car for 250 m, and noise?

Hey Everyone,

Well, I've had my 04 Z for about 2 weeks/250 miles and i hear this rattling noise coming from the front wheel well area on the driver's side. i particularly hear this noice when im at low rpms in 2nd gear when i'm driving 12-15 mph. Any idea what the hell this noise is? Should I bring it in the dealer? Thought?

Thx!

Have u looked under the car, and made sure u dont have anything draggin on the skid plate? Dead Animal? Tree branch? Verify nothing is draggin...

Could you also be a little more descriptive about the noise? When it happens? What are u doing when it happens? Speed? Up Hill & Down Hill.. etc etc.

Sully,

Checked under the car made sure there was nothing there. The noise only happens when I shift from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd with the RPMs around 2000k. The noise sounds as like a metal clanking noise, as if a piece of the undercarriage was being dragged. The noise cames from the front wheel well are on the driver's side. I drove the car a bit yesterday and I didn't hear anything. What do you think?

I scheduled a an appt with Nissan on Monday, so we'll see what happens.

Well i do know the "metal Clanking" noise, I also have that same thing, Nissan state's thats fine, I hear it when engaging the gear.. but afterwhich goes away, its not a lasting sounds or "draggin".

Also, this might be quite remote, but there could be grit or a rock between your Brake pad and Disc, this happen to my buds M3.. that lil thing pruduced some serious noise.

Sry, but its one of them things I'd have to be there to see, in order to come to a conclusion.

Good Luck, Let us know what goes down at Nissan. Hopefully they dont pull the ******** of "We can replecate customers complaint, inspected, nothing wrong"

My 05 has same noise. It is more pronouced when I push the clutch down fast after revving the engine upto about 4500 rpm. I am assuming it is normal. However it does not sound sporty nor sexy. It is more of a city bus or truck shifting rattle. It does not affect the shifting however so I will continue to drive mine until the dealer tells me that I need a new tranny or something.

I think that is the TSB that Nissan put out for the real axle 'click'... I just made an appointment at the dealer to see if they can fix it.

There are a few posts on these forums referring to it.
