Default Who is more **** than this??

My car is getting close, 11/13 expected delivery date and I ordered in March.

I go to the dealer inventory several times a day looking for my VIN number to show up. I even have some of the VINs etched in memory that are in the inventory but not delivered yet. Oh yeah, 4636, I remember that was there on Monday!

Geez, life will be a lot easier when I finally get my Z.

Hehe, it's fun though!

Are you even more **** when you take delivery (as far as cleaning, etc.)?

and what is so unusual about that? You definitely aren't the first to do that!!! I would say that's normal in our circle!

Yes, it gets worse when you get the car. I had never even washed my own car. Now, she and I spend 2 hours or so of quality time together every weekend and I own $100 plus in cleaning supplies, applicators, towels, polishing cloths, brushes, etc.

I carry 2 towels in my car - one for the interior, one for the exterior. I wont make my own bed and my office looks like a paper mill explodded, but I keep my car awfully shiny.

You needed to spend the last few months roaming around your local port of call, waiting for various large boats to show up with 350Zs rolling off the back end. Then you needed to get buddy-buddy with some Longshoremen to let you in. Then you needed to get buddy-buddy with the prep guys so they would let you take pictures with you car as it came off the boat. Then you... ah, you get the picture...

THAT'S ****.

Steve,

If you think that your **** retentive now, wait till delivery day! On the day my car was unloaded from transport, I instructed my dealer that NOBODY touch the car. I declined the predelivery prep and full tank of gas. I even drove home with the plastic wrapping on.

Knowing Nissan's typical "soft paint" problem, I had the full Invisiguard / Xpel paint protection film ready for install as soon as the car hit my garage with 11 miles on the odometer. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to be ordained from the Pope to install this stuff yourself.

How **** am I now? Well, I planning on NEVER driving the 350Z on wet roads for as long as I can hold out. Long live the garage queen!

Pics of 3M film on my bumper (notice the slight border around the Nissan emblem):

Dean, if you decline the delivery-inspection, do you lose some rights if something turns out to be wrong? I want to do exactly what you did cause my saleslady is a retard and I don't trust her to drive a 6 speed to get gas. How soon did you wash the car after you peeled the delivery plastic off? Oh, by the way, your car is the sweetest one I,ve seen yet. I got Chrome silver too, but in tuoring and I am trying to decide whether the leather and power seats was worth giving up those beautiful brembos and rays.

Turcoupe,

Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure that you invalidate the warranty by declining the predelivery car wash or the salesman joy ride to the gas station. A certified Nissan Tech did the mandatory checklist before delivery and drove the car exactly 3 miles. I would recommend going over every INCH of the body for any chips and scratches. The Nissan Tech found a small paint chip on the rear hatch which was documented. The service dept. was generous enough to provide touch-up paint

The plastic film comes off easily and you can wash/clay bar/wax as soon as it's off. I would also recommend that you request that the plastic seat cover STAY on the car. The seat covers actually fit very well and can be useful for protecting the seats next time the car needs servicing.

Good luck. Chrome silver is a great color!

Dean,

Thanks for this tip. I had already told the dealer that I am declining the prep and tank of gas. It will be nice so have some protection for those unusual times that would require them.

This one won't be the "garage queen" my Z32 was but I live by myself and have two other cars and a motorcycle so she won't get too many miles.
