Dealer Badges
In spite of my two requests to leave off the dealer badge, my dealer put it on anyway. I tried a search but could not find a post on the safe removal of the sticker. I don't want to damage any paint getting it off. It is just a sticker, so I wouldn't think it would be too hard. Any advice would be appreciated.
I've pulled several dealer badges off cars over the years and in my experience it's pretty easy if you do it while it's new.
I just peeled them off very slowly and then waxed the hell out of the spot where the badge was. Although I don't know if I'd feel totally safe doing it on this car, since I'ver heard so many horror stories about the paint being so thin.

I've never done this myself, but here is what I have heard:
If its a sticker, use a heat gun on it and it should be really easy to remove. If its a hard badge, use the heat gun, but get behind it with dental floss to remove.
A decent body shop might help you out as well.

You know, as anxious as one would be after waiting for the car, when the dealer pulls crap like that I would just refuse the car.
I did that with my C5 when I ordered it. I asked specifically for them to not do any dealer stickers, etc. I asked them to only remove the shipping tape and then wash the car, but to leave the interior plastic covers on. They did it. Of course, its because I also mentioned that I would not accept the car if these directions weren't met. Yeah, the time of waiting is tough, but its far too simple a task for the dealer to do it right.
I figured I could be **** given the cost of the C5. When I had a Sentra SE-R (in high school), I asked the dealer to NOT install a front plate bracket, as I wanted no holes in the bumper.
so, they ended up locating (and!) driving my car from another dealer in TX to the one in Austin (582 miles!) and that dealer had already put in the screws for the front plate.
So, I learned my lesson with that one. I had to look at those nasty holes for 7 years.
One nice thing about the Corvette was that the front plate goes on in place of a cover, so the car doesn't have to have holes in the nose.
On the S2000, it was nice because the typical Honda thing is tha the bracket screws into the bumper via these existing brass reinforced holes. You remove these "disposable" plugs, screw the bracket in, and add the plate. I had a buddy at the Acura dealer score me some Integra plugs, because they happen to fit.
Its nice that some manufacturers think about how to keep the car's nose nice and clean if you don't run a front plate (and that adding the plate doesn't cause permanent damage).
I know, I got a bit off topic here
I guess I am adamant about certain things...

I'm having a hard time thinking since it's about time for me to leave work!
I think I'd ask the dealer to remove it, since you'd told him you didn't want it on there. Or maybe he'd pay you a monthly advertising fee to keep it on (yeah, right).
My dealer added a license plate frame with his name on it, which I plan to remove after I get a Z frame (with diamonds). My experience with the dealer was a good one, but still, they aren't giving any perks for the free advertising.

thanks for the advice. I just used the hair dryer technique and that worked well. The sticker was so cheap looking it pulled off with no problem. tomorrow I will start the Zaino process!
I don't know about VA, but in MD there is a STATE LAW that says
the dealer cannot put his badges on your car without your
permission; further if they are put on without your permission
then the dealer must remove them AND make any necessary
repairs if there is damage to the car.

The hair dryer is by far the best and easiest way.
Last week, I pulled off a few stickers from my wife's Pathfinder...
10-15 seconds of hot air... and voila... the stickers came off like a charm. These were 2 year old stickers... so with your decals -- which were just put on... should be a breeze.

I ordered my Z last week and had the dealer put in writing that no dealer badges or insignias would be on the car when I pick it up. I always do this when I buy a new car and have never had a problem. When it's in writing on the sales contract, you can legally refuse the car unless they deliver it the way you want it.

Yep, that is what I basically posted in my long post above
I know its hard to resist the months of waiting and the anticipation of getting the new car right then and there. I've been there. And the Z like a lot more of the high end cars is one that can be "custom" ordered with just the right choice of options, so it might be hard to find a clone nearby. I mean if you want a White Altima V6 5 speed, with a certain package, its probably at your dealer, or the dealer across town.
There is always that possibility that the dealer would have to order you another one just like you want and start the waiting game all over again. Of course, at that point do you want to deal with the same people again?

GooGone works great for stuff like this. Just soak the decal and let it sit for a few minutes. The decal should peel right off. Wipe off any residual adhesive with a rag soaked with GooGone. Once clean, reapply car polish to protect the paint.

Every car I bought I added an addendum on the contract to require the removal of the dealer sticker. On one occassion, I refused delivery until removed. If they want to sell the car through you, they should simply treat you right and you will advertise via word of mouth.
