Tried a search and found nothing, sorry if this has been dicussed already. Back to the original question, why wouldn't they have put the 3.7 in the Z this year?

Maybe they want to wait for a major redesign before dropping in the new motor. The G series are already a new design, so it gets the new motor.

The G series is a new design, but it is not like they changed a lot. It seems more like a refresh to me.

Sure they will....I have a gut feeling they'll slap the 3.8L GT-R engine(minus turbos of course) in the 2009 redesign and call it a 380Z. That rolls off the tongue much better than 370Z... Keep in mind that my gut also has a tendency to give me false info

i agree...370Z sounds dumb IMO. But wow a 380Z?? THAT sounds like a winner. Cant wait for that to happen IF it happens. And yeah they cant leave their Z lineup with smaller/slower engines than the G's. Even tho i have lots of love for my future car. lol

Look at the Z history. How often does the Z get a bump in displacement?

LOL could you imagine how the torque would be. And imagine what TT kits would put out with that displacement.

^^^I wasn't joking, i'm serious. Just bump the compression up to 11:1 or so, all motor baby. Or we could do 8:1 and run 16lbs of boost...would need 345's out back from the factory...insurance would kill me though...if the car didn't first.
