If the Z is discontunied for 2008 in gonna shoot someone ive been waiting for the 2008 model and ive been saving for it, thats why i have a crap S13.

Why would they make a 3.7L engine wouldnt it be cheaper to keep the 3.5L and turbocharge it???
i dont think they will change much of the body from the 'o7 model.

They put the 3.7 out a year earlier because its going to be in the GTR but TT. Put it out 1 yr early and see how it works and if any problems occur.

I dont think Nissan can top the design on this gen Z. The Z design right now is timeless just the the old gen G35.

The only contender in size, power, and price to a Z is honestly a Mustang GT and you know thats not a featherweight contender. You can compare the rx8 to the Z also but again the lack of power on the rx-8 why bother?
Obviously you do not know how to compare classes of sports cars.
Go weight an 06 Z or an 07 Z on the same scale as previous models. They did not gain weight. Just live with it and be happy wiht the car you drive. Its still the best bang for the buck sports car under 30k

let's see, the S2000 (convertable that adds weight) and the 2008 Audi TT (which by the way has slighly larger dimensions than the 350z and still has a curb weight of 2965 lbs.) are both cars that could be considered in the same catagory, wieght less, and cost about the same for comparable options. Obviously you don't know how to compare cars and think the extra weight of the Z is a good thing. And yes, you can compare the TT to the 350z price wise once you add up the Z's options to get to the standard options of the TT. Comparing luxury cars like the M3 to the 350z is a bad move as well.

A Z is still a very nice car, but a diet would help it immensely.

+1 , everything the 1st time is the best. Performance and interior quality can be increased, but the exterior design will be hard to top. Its the same with all things. Look at 50 cent, his 1st album was one of the best of that year, after that? He slowly fell off the f*cking side of the earth...

Nice comparison. He's loaded now, no need to do anything anymore. Man i bet he couldnt even spend all the money he has. Anyways I hope Nissan dont mess up the Z like they did with the G.

^+1 I am really disappointed with the exterior design of the G37. I waited until seeing it at the NY Auto Show before I made a final decision to buy the G37 or an 07 Z, and I left the auto show 100% convinced to buy the Z.

Interestingly, they did not specifically call it a 350Z, but simply by the Z moniker, so it may actually be the 370Z we are all wanting…
Nissan has been calling it our cars the Nissan Z since the 2006 model, not the Nissan 350z.

Good, that way they don't have to change the name every time the bump the displacement

I think the 2006s came out around November 2005 and the 2006 came out around January 2006. It was a little longer around here this year before the dealerships had them because they were trying to sell off their 2006s

I know how you feel though, I am waiting to see if they are going to do much to the 2008 model before I drop the cash on a new one. If 2008 is not the redesign year then I will get a 07 or 08 depending on what they did to the 08s

Of course if the 08 is the new design year then I will surely wait for that one.

and what's the argument about weight anyways, how many of you really take your cars to the track? And it's not like you can drive really fast on the streets legally, so then who cares if the Z weighs 3,000+lbs.

Everyone is complaining about weights and people are reacting with cars that may or may not be in the same category, all i can say for certain is the cars that generally seem to be in the same category as the z but have less weight also have less power, so i guess the only true way to settle this stuff would be throwing out hp to weight ratios, and that would prob make more sense to this argument. And yes i know a blank to blank hp ratio on a car that weighs 2000lbs to the same ratio on a car that weighs 3000lbs would be extremely better on a track, but seeing as the weight differences between these cars everyone is arguing about isnt too extreme so its still all good. And to throw in my piece, I like my Z fat. More cushion for the pushing i guess.

Am I unhappy my car weighs 3200+ lbs? not a bit. It's a great car, it hides it's weight, it handles well and it has plenty of power.

However, Nissan is looking at a full redesign and CLEARLY the best thing they could do for the performance of the car is to cut weight. This is true of any car, the Z just has more to shed than most.

350hp 3000lbs and 30K. These are perfect numbers. Dont get too ambitious Nissan, and DONT stiffen it up and make it more hard core. I know we would all love that here at my350z.com, but the other 90% of people who buy this car would not. Look at the S2000, brilliant car but too hard core for its own good. The Z is a perfect comprimise. Soft enough to be a DD, but hard core enough that you can't call it anything other than a sports car.
