If you look closely the door on that car is about 6 inches shorter than the 350Z. It actually is probably about the same size as an S2000 door. Hmmmm...
Did you ever wonder when they were going to bring the Silvia back?

Yeah... looks like the front cars are lower in elevation... then camera is Zoomed in on the mule... makes for that pasted effect. But because you asked. ;-) I hope the Z(350/370) stays the same length... that stubby window/door is yuck.

I too thought the car was possibly shortened, it really looks like it is, but couldn't really make it happen through my photoshopping - I took the spy photo and one of my Z in similar positions (I had to roatate mine) - but I don't see where things got shortened. The vertical lines are for reference - showing how I aligned centerlines of wheels.
Maybe someone can interperet something from this pic:

while this article says nissan will introduce 3 sports cars (the other being a lower level urge) i strongly feel this mule is the 370 Z not a different sports car
here is why first of all its being paced with a Cayman S. the GT-R was paced with the 997 TT. both cars are looking to out do porsche for about half the price.
the calipers are the identical calipers to the G37
the headlights are a clear evolution of the current light, not something remotely close to what was seen on the urge even in a tamed production version
there is also talk of the Z making its debut at the Detroit auto show in jan 08 as the GT-R will steal all the hype at the tokyo show in october

go to home depot and buy a piece of rubber weather stripping. thats all it is
im thinking the new spoiler will be integrated into the hatch like the G37. i think the rubber piece is put on the regular spoiler here to get a basic heigh/ angle and curve of what the new spoiler will be

Looks shorter to me but not wheel base. Look at the roofline. Actually, look at the window upper edge shape and length. Nule looks alil short. Could be just me though.

Also, check out both sides of the door. Seems to have been cut. Dunno if its to make it longer or shorter though.
edit: Looking at all the pics, the doors has definately been cut.

Also, can the lights be like that because they moved the bumper back?
look at the hood where it meets the bumper, there is a gap due to the hood looking like it hangs over the bumper.

I like how the back looks on the mule. The rear fender is more integrated into the rear body. I know its jsut accidental and the mule prolly has no design effort in it at all, but it looks alot better then our lil-butt-with-huge-flairs look. IMHO
Still wondering why they had to cut the hatch though.

New sports car from Nissan
Hope this isn't a repost....but lets just get this out of the way...THIS IS NOT WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE! I KNOW IT'S WEARING THE SKIN OF A 350Z, BUT IT WILL HAVE IT'S OWN SHEET METAL WHEN IT GOES INTO PRODUCTION.

New to me. My first instinct is to scream PS! but I don't see the point of that.
I don't see how they can make anything much smaller than the Z already is, so my guess is that they are tweaking the wheelbase and dimensions to make the next-gen Z lighter. There was a quote to that affect in Sports Z Magazine from either Ghosn or the chief designer/engineer saying that they need to concentrate more on building lighter vehicles.
Nissan also is not in the best financial shape, so I find it hard to believe with the GTR as the new, yet-to-be-proven-a-success halo car, that they would introduce another small, two-seat rwd car.

I read about this a few days back, nothing is really for sure what going on
That would make for a perfect reason to make a new car, something that sells well and carries enough profits to overturn there problems. I believe there flagship cars like the maxima and Z dont bring much profits, its the cars like the sentra and altima that bring in the money, making a sports car thats cheap so do get large sell and make large profit makes sense.
<---- hopes for a new 510, but know it will likely be a new 240sx
