LOL, you guys are funny!! You're picking apart the new Z just like we did over on InfinitiFX.org just before the new 09 FX was unveiled. Unfortunately, what we saw was what we got, complete with the big fish mouth grille and the angular headlamps. I bet you get the same thing with the new Z. Actually, it looks like whoever designed the new FX was also on the new 370Z design team (see pic below). I think the new multi-angle headlamp is going to be one of the signatures of the new Nissans/Infinitis, because its starting to pop up all over.
Are you sure you're not talking about the FX??

Yeah I like it in Black maybe Red shaken not stirred, lighter, faster, better handling, smoother shifting 6spd, paddle shifting 7spd auto and better interior (which we haven't seen yet). So far if this is teh 370Z, I'm really digging the smooth curves and the faint resembles of a 240/280z. I can get past the head lights if all else is true, though I was hoping for 346hp, 326hp will do if the cars 200-300lbs lighter its on Cayman S's bye bye.

20hp more than the current z would be a big mistake in nissan's part considering some of the other cars about to appear. If it is anything less than 350hp I will pass on the z for a c6 vette...

Regarding the design, I need to see it in person to make a final call. Many of Nissan's recent designs look much better in the metal than they do in pictures. The G37 and Murano come to mind here. I think the same will be true of the new FX and Maxima. If I approve of the looks of the new Z after seeing it in person, I can very well see it replacing my '07 6M/T G Sedan once my lease is up. The idea of 330+ hp moving 3000 or so lbs. coupled with distinctive looks, a well tuned suspension and an exhaust note to die for (I fail to see how Nissan will let us down here) is just too tempting to keep me in a heavier albeit more luxurious G (Sedan or Coupe). The G37 is just too much of a pig for me and I hope its successor is able to shed a few hundred pounds (or maybe not as it may make my decision an even tougher one).
This is of course assuming there's no more S2k (or a worth successor of the S2k) around as I've been tinkering with the idea of jumping into once after having sampled a few AP2s at their limits.

Hmmm, this actually looks pretty good. I love the classic Datsun 240Z references in the body lines...and the headlights actually work with this design IMO. Looking forward to seeing it in the showrooms

That is the car I saw on stage last night/right drive version. Sure wish they would have brought it down to floor level. Expected launch LA Auto Show!
In addition left drive GT-R VIN #31.

The fact that this car weighs less really attracts me! I've always been a fan of lighter weight cars.
The headlights...they look a little busy. I really wish they didn't have to turn them into something futuristic. I liked the clean look that our generation Z's have.
But since it got a weight reduction, I'm all for the new 370Z.

I always felt the current Z was being sold a little too cheap. Heck thats why the better equipped Z models cost 34-40K now. So wth is with all the whining about price? yes..I know some dudes buy no optioned base Z's for tuning etc. But for the majority who do buy the base. Is probably due to the affordability/low price. Regardless I think most of us are willing to pay more for better quality/performance...
Besides $35k + would yet again widen that ye ole gap most kids need to get across in order to get the car

My lease ends in 2010 just in time for the second model year, but I'd bail on the Infiniti out of the lease early if the car is really worthwhile. I got out of my last G35 sedan lease halfway in for nothing (held it's value better than expected).
