that means a lot of good options will be standard. so it's not all good. but Nissan should always keep base stripped down version for the hardcore tracking/racing fans

For $35k you can get a twin turbo inline-6 1 series that with a chip will make another 80 hp!
Just try to get a 135i for $35k OTD. Metallic paint and leather add $2k. The premium radio is $875 and the iPod adapter is $400. Hell heated seats are another $500. You can get an 08 Z at or below invoice these days. Compared to a fully loaded Grand Touring, a similarly optioned BMW is going to be over $42k MSRP plus dealer markup. It's hard to find a deal on them since it's so new and one dealer even told me 400 off them fell into the ocean when a cargo ship sank. The best I could find was $1k under sticker.

Oh, and it's ugly.

Dont forget Nissan is rumored to have a entry level sports car in the works. Thus taking the base $25-30k spot and moving the Z up to a mid level car. That may be another reason for the 370's $35k+ base msrp speculation.

Absolutely a possability. However, considering that the new Toyota-ru (or Soyota if you prefer) and Genesis Coupe will run the 20-30K price range and be RWD, when Nissan sits down to asses the market, their rumored FWD entry level sports car doesn't stack up. Now say it is a true successor to the Silvia and is RWD. It would still need to run 20-30K, leaving the 30-40K for the Z. Some overlap may be intentionally avoided. We'll all have to wait and see, but I still don't think a 7K bump is coming for the Z.

wow that BMW dealer is full of ish, 400 didn't fall into the ocean, OMG. Several hundred were damaged on the cargo ship but guess what, BMW is still reconditioning them and selling them as new. If anything don't buy that first year you might wind up with one of them.

not gonna happen... it wouldn't make sense to sell the 370Z and G37 at the same price point.

Yes it would. One lux and one sport. Makes perfect sense to me and it divides the waters of car buyers. The best of both worlds...

no it doesn't make sense to do that, people's thought process would be well i'll just get a g37 for that price

I know I would and alot of people think the same way, I would be shocked if it really was $35k

I can see it bumping up to like $29 for a base and $35k for a touring

one more thing: if you remember the 350Z's base was rumored at $30k so that also tells me something, Nissan isn't stupid

No it wouldn't make any sense whatsoever. Your average customer already has this imprinted in his/her brain - Infinity is to Nissan as Lexus is to Toyota. What that tells me is that oh.. a g37 is same price as 370z - and obviously Infinity > Nissan so I am making a better financial decision of getting the g37 over the 370z.

That's exactly what would happen if the price was the same - so the 370z base will most certainly be lower then any g37 model.

I disagree. I know people, including myself, that would opt for an all out preformance sports car over the lux boat the G37 is.

We will have to agree to disagree here.

Well the rumor is now $35k (C&D states North of 35 in fact)

Dont know whats up with some people. With the competition, rising costs etc. How in the hell would a complete redesign (not just model refresh) be at the same or near the previous models price set?? Are you even reading all the previews, speculations or even the hype etc?... and just a $1k price hike??

The same was said for the new STI's price as well...And everyone knows how that turned out
