1. FLAWLESS reliability history.
2. City traffic.
3. Freeway jams due to accidents, etc.
4. Only 1 MPG less than MT.
5. Consistently, when they're pit against each other, the AT Zed beats the MT one!!!
6. Torque for the AT Zed: 274ft-lbs.
7. Torque for the MT Zed: 260ft-lbs.
(I'm still looking for more reasons! Actually, the only reason to prefer an MT over an auto tranny is what I call "Sports Car Feel". Otherwise, it's all a cosmetic thingy!!!)

Priorities. Also, some autos are rated at a higher MPG during city driving, so it's a wash in some cases. I'll likely be getting a traditional manual since a dual clutch doesn't look like it'll be in the cards at this point.

They should just make a trim that only comes in 6 speed. Like how subie's have the wrx for at/manual then the sti is all 6 speed. Maybe have the trim with a smaller twin turbo( compared to ones on the gtr) or something

No 6MT on a sports car = FAIL.
how many formula race cars come with a 6MT? or manual anything? The newer autos are capable of shifting faster than humans....and with the ability to pick a gear and stay there, when desired, it seems that the GTR's tranny is nothing more than natural selection/evolution of its species.

You're comparing a STREET car to a Formula 1 car.

NISSAN BRING THE DUAL CLUTCH!!!!

If they seek to be a Audi TT fighter, they should not offer a traditional AT. Just the MT and DCT plz.

What do you guys think Nissan will do? Remember, they only offer an Automatic in their flagship sports car (GT-R) and now the 370Z may receive that transmission too. Will they scrap the manual trans in the new Z?

who cares. it is a Z. get over it

Ferrari, Bmw M's, Audi TT and VW Gti/r32 etc..Have been at this stage for awhile now, with Porsche soon to be joining in. Its just Jdm and American cars that are slow in offering those type of options.

I do think it's funny that the claim by "manual only" guys used to be better control and performance. Now that the dual-clutch manual transmissions are here, they've reverted to the clutch is more fun and it's the man pedal.

I agree that clutching and rowing through the gears manually is fun, but I think a lot of these manual only folks have some kind of macho superiority complex.

Technology has now advanced us past the manual transmission. While some may prefer a traditional manual for fun purposes, the dual-clutch transmissions are not only more convenient, they are a shitload of fun, and they are much better for performance.

4. Only 1 MPG less than MT. - Better MPG for MT is pretty typical
5. Consistently, when they're pit against each other, the AT Zed beats the MT one!!! - Funny... I have always seen a MT post faster times than a AT in most cars, and the stock times for the current Z's show a faster time going to the MT
6. Torque for the AT Zed: 274ft-lbs. - HP/TQ for the AT Zed: 306/268

I agree with most of what ya said. But you missed a point on the DSG vs MT.

Added cost... Both purchase and or after warranty maintance...Dont forget some people may be unwilling or unable to fit it in their budget..For example the E92M3's DCT is a $2800 option.. MT's for the most part are standard no cost options..

Maintance..DSG needs more detailed and possibly costly (again after warranty)servicing, than a traditional manual. Harder for the DYI'er in other words..

So not all manual fans are ego maniacs
