Someone should start a 240-280z appreciation thread. Never get tired of seeing these beauties. How much can you get one for nowadays?

Depends. An all original 240Z in excallent shape can easily go for well over $10K+. One in good condition $6K, $7K. All depends on the car really.

He told me, "son, you' need to have one of these". :-)

Anyway, the first thing I said when I say the 370Z was, wow, it reminds me of the 240Z, my brother had the same first reaction. We are not the only ones who thinks this. Just read the forum posts and car magazines. That photo of the 370Z at the gas station really reminds me of the 240Z I had, which was lowered and had fat low profile tires. It had the similar body lines when looking at it from that angle too.
I agree. I've owned 3 280Z's myself. Still the 1st-gen-Z body style. Great cars.

Yep, the interior in the 280Z was a little nicer than in the 240Z, the bumpers were a little larger too. I remember the hum the L series engines would make. You knew it was a Z coming or going just by that sound. And how everything up to the 280ZX was swappable down to the 240Z. Fun cars. I basically had a 280Z swapped into a 240Z chassis.

has anyone noticed the brakes on this particular 370z? they look massive, both rotors and calipers. this must be higher model compared to the one they tested on motortrend.

Sweet pic comparison. The 350z looks super out-dated.

I am sure a few noticed it. I sure did, but thanks for mentioning it. The brake appear MASSIVE. Maybe it is this spec car that will cost 35k, while the base starts from 28/29k ish....

Remember how the C6 Vettes' performance came VERY close to the performance of the C5 Z06? Well, I bet the 370 will be VERY close if not better than the Z33 Nismo version (handling/breaking wise; it will obviously be faster).

it's interesting how things go around. Modern today is the opposite of what it once was. Looking at the 240-280Z transition to the 280ZX, it looks like they made some of the opposite moves to modernize the car:

Z:

ZX:

To modernize from the 350 they sharpened the angels, supposedly reduced weight, and added more power. In modernizing from the 240-280Z they softened the angles, increased the weight and sacrificed power.

It seems like 'progress' will be better this time around

This is what I miss... the Z having a unique sound from all the other models. It is like hearing the FX35 exhaust note that is the same as the Z. That's what I find missing... the Z sound. The closest right now is the Z32 TT parked next to my car in the garage :-)
