US & Japan Specs of 350z. Relax & Wait For 370z Specs
Guys, before you get all worked up further about the weight and speculating the price, I want to shed some light on these two things.
I went to the Japanese Nissan website, then USA site and did a few comparisons about price and weight on the current 2008 350z, hope this will ease some of you for the time being. To be honest, let's wait and see the final specs and pricing. I love the Z and want a 370z as much as many of you.
First, the price (see pic below), I see couple other threads here and there stating it starts around $34K to $35K. That is true if you go by what you see out there from these Japanese mags and do a straight conversion. But the truth is this. The image below is taken off the Japanese Nissan site and you can see it is ranging from 3,300,000 to 4,400,000 Yen for their 2008 350z. You can Google the exchange rate, but if you did a straight conversion to US Dollar, it would be $34,881 USD to $46,508 USD. Which we all know US market 350z base starts at $28,510 USD to $38,680 USD NISMO. So lesson #1 is, don't completely go by what you read in a Japanese magazine and convert it to our market, it's not the same!

Next, the weight (2nd and 3rd pics below). I can't read Japanese but I can see the "kg" thing and looks like their base 350z's weight is pretty much as to our US market 350z. But as you go up in trim (top row looks like coupe and bottom row looks like a convertible), their 1610 kg (3542 lbs) weight is way over our coupe Grand Touring weight. Lesson #2 is same as Lesson #1.

If someone can read Japanese and have a different opinion than I do, please chime in. But for now, let's wait and see, because I tend to think the specs in Japan and US will be different, and so far it looks like they are heavier than ours.

Finally someone who understands the automotive world. This is the exact same with the European markets and the US. Cars over there cost several thousand dollars more. This is true even for cars which are domestic to them.
Good job my man

Good job and nice effort. PA
I wouldn't hold your breath... The problem is a lot of people just post without searching previous posts or even reading thru a thread 1st. Hence why there are tons of reposts.
LOL Even when the official specs get released. You know some dude's going to bring up this same topic.

But what you fail to realize is that the Japanese number also has the car at 1490kg or so. Obviously the weighing practices between 2008 and 2009 in Japan haven't changed so one can still conclude the 370Z weighs "THE SAME" as the 08 350Z. So if their practices are different, it should generally translate to the same US weight as well.

Don't leave out the Yen rate. While the prices on the Japanese web site are in Yen, they can translate to a lower cost in dollars. Which is about the same. As on now the dollar is sucking agaist the yen.
Examples August Yen rate $1.00 = 110 Yen
3,000,000 Yen would be $27000.00
Today
November 1.00 = 97 Yen
3,000,000 Yen would be $31,000.00 ablout $4000.00 difference

The yellow bar starts at 3,300,000 Yen. At closing day today is 95.88 Yen for a dollar, that equals about $34,418.02 USD and that's their base model.
Even if it is starting at 3,000,000 Yen, that yields $31,289.11 USD, and that is still almost 3K more than our base model.
