Default Nissan Trannys?

Just curious on how you all think the revmatching transmission will perform? I personally see it as just one more unnecessary link in the chain to break down.

2003 Z Transmission... epic fail (Craptastic syncros)
2009 GTR Transmission... epic fail (3.2s 0-60 ftl)
2009 350Z Transmission... possible epic fail?

This thread... possible epic flame?

all its doing is smoothing out the transition between gears using a little throttle, not much to it. so i dont predict an "epic" fail

the GT-R tranny isnt an epic fail either its the 4-5 tools out of over 1400 owners in the US that did 30-40 launch controls on brand new cars and spammed it all over forums

I can tell you what I think, but it doesn't make it a fact. I don't like it, but at least it doesn't come standard (comes with Sports Package).

Actually Nissans transmissions have usually been very good. The GTRs transmission is very good, it is holding nearly 500TQ stock and shifting faster then virtually any production transmission in history. Only a few have had failures thus far and out of the several thousand already produced thats pretty good. From what I understand the ones that had transmission failures so far were early production models and Nissan has since revised the transmission control unit to resolve this issue.

The FS5R30A transmission found in the 300ZX,R32 GTR, R33 GTR, and a few other older Nissans is very strong and has shown to be very reliable holding 600-700WHP and has been taken as high as 1000WHP with out failure.

From what I understand the newer 6 Speeds on the VQ37s have resolved the synchro issues seen on earlier VQ 6 speeds. And I don't see the revmatching feature on the new Z being problematic either, its more of a computer controled function then having to do with the transmission it self.

It's just the engine ECU blipping the throttle for you on downshifts which should if anything improve the life of the clutch, syncros and drive-train. Should be smoother and less reversal of torque from the wheels back to the tranny back through the clutch to the engine...I just hope I can talk a sales guy in to letting me "pretend" I want to trade in my 07 for a new 370Z...and go try that sucker out!!!

HAHA...just ask him how many cars he has sold over the past 3 months and he will let you take one for a drive I bet. Take advantage of the economy.
