Edmunds 370Z Review
Slalom:
2009 370z: 69.8mph
2007 Nismo 350z: 71.0mph
I guess thats what happens when you change weight dist from 50/50 to 45/55? Cant imagine how Nissan felt that removing weight from the rear to get better handling would help it out by creating the unbalanced weight. I would really like an explination on that one.

So people are disappointed that the 370Z is heavier as well as faster and handles almost similarly to the NISMO 350z but definitely outperform the 350Z?
You do realized the 370Z with sport package is $32,930 and the NISMO starts at $38,680, right?
Let's not even talk about the new interior versus the Z33's....

But yes, unless you're rear-heavy, adding weight to the nose is never a good thing.
I would attribute the quicker slalom to stiffer anti-roll bars more than anything. I bet a set of aftermarket 'bars would singlehandedly put the 370Z above the NISMO.
Actually, the 350Z (all models) had 53/47 distribution... and the 370Z has 54/46. So not much change.

If they could have got the weight down to 3000-3100 this car would be sick, now its just ok imo
Actually, it doesn't. The Touring model 370Z weighs more than an 08 Touring 350Z. If you wanna' talk independent tests, those results have showed us that 07-08 Enthusiast and Touring 350Zs weighed 3220-3260lbs. My 06 stock, fluids all full, weighed 3250lbs. Subtract about 30-40lbs for 03-05 Zs which are even lighter. This doesn't pertain to the 07-08 Nismos, those have been weighed in at 3330lbs.
So, if Edmunds did indeed weigh this base car themselves, and got a 3350lb figure (as opposed to Nissan's 3250 claim)...I can't imagine what the Touring 370Z actually weighs. But I doubt they did weigh the car, it seems like Edmunds has confused the weight of the Base and Touring car.
Edit: Just saw Motor Trend's review of their Touring 370Z. Yep, I was right, Edmunds has the wrong weight listed for their base. The base 370Z weighs just about the same as the average Touring 350Z. The 370Z weighs MORE.

Maybe im missing something here, but I think its pretty much official that the 370Z Touring is almost 100 lbs lighter than the 350Z Touring. (And about the same differences between base models)
Again, the "I weighed in at" argument is completely useless. You can't possibly expect everyone to be weighing them with the same exact configurations.
According to Nissan's stated weight (for consistency), the 08 Touring 6MT weighs 3,376 lbs. Whereas the 370Z Touring 6MT weighs in at 3,278. (About the same differences between the automatics too).

There should be no argument over the 370z and the Nismo. The 370z looks much better, and just dominates it on the skid pad .97 > .91 that is way more important than the slalom (unless you dodge traffic all day). Not to mention all the other stats it out preforms it in. And for $32K for the sport... i'm set!
Also looks and sounds sexy on the video!

Yep looks like we get a bit better performance than the old Nismo Z for much less. You gotta love that..Cant help but wonder how good the 370z Nismo version will be. Thats probably going to be the Cayman S killer..........Hopefully...
Awesome almost 225 lbs difference if you get the basic Z!
PERFECt who needs all the other crap..
Can't wait to get mine!!!!
Motortrends seems to LOVE it which is good!

It's NOT about the number itself, its about the differences between them. Whether they stated 3500 vs 3300 lbs or 3200 lbs vs 3000 lbs, they are using the same method of weighing them. So its safe to say that it is XXX amount lighter than the other.
Ofcourse people will be able to weigh them in at a lighter weight...
370z = cayman
Nismo 370z = cayman s

All the people complaining about "oh if it were only 100-200 lbs lighter" please stfu you haven't even driven the car yet. Your speculation is based purely off paper facts. I doubt many of you could tell the diff even if it were 100lbs lighter. The numbers speak for themselves. Did any of you bother looking at the numbers(0.99g!) or did you scroll right down to curb weight and start complaining?
