Are you buying the Z with a manual or automatic?
Love the new styling and shorter wheel base. However, not sure if I like the auto rev matching downshift in the "Manual" gearbox. I mean, it's gonna be weird especially I've driving "heel and toe" downshift for so long, On the plus side, I would like to see how much of a lockup and shift time is on the new 7-spd Auto with paddleshift like thou. So, I'm gonna wait for a personal test drive before I decide whether going manual or Auto this time.
^^ there is an on and off switch to the rev match feature in the 370z. In the jan09 edition of car and driver they drove a pre production 370z which did not have the switch however they said the the production car should. As for the manual vs AT (paddle shift) argument. I dont see the manual tranny dying out. There is still a large group of pure drivers that perfer the MT tranny over AT. When i drive a paddle shift car i feel disconnected from the car. It takes all the sport and skill out of driving. Whats scary is there might be no sport of driving left. Everything is becomming to computer dependent.
I have had 2 Z's, G coupe, and TSX in the past - all manual. I loved all of them.
I also currently own an Acura TL-S with paddle shifters and I have to admit I'm in love with paddle shifters. I use them all the time and its damn fun. I'm not gonna lie, my Acura doesn't exactly shift at light speed like some ferrari's do but it's still a lot of fun. The new Z is supposed to shift much faster at supposedly 0.5sec so I can only imagine it should more fun than my Acura.
I was once like all these younger kids and used to say I'll never own an auto. Boy did I change in the end and I'm not even 30 yet. My next Z will most definitely be the 7AT with paddle shifters unless I'm somehow turned off with the way it drives, but I doubt that will be the case.
