My local dealers won't let me drive 370z!act like it's a gtr!
I'm not surprised they're this protective. The 370z just came out in its 1st year and that was the 1st shipment. A lot of dealerships are this way with test-drives when they feel you're not ready to buy on that day. I've seen it happen to a few people before, and not just with Nissan. One dealership checked my credit report before allowing a test-drive on an 07 Z back in early 07. I was checking out a leftover 06 Z, and I got the test-drive no problem. Salesman, insisted on it.
Don't you still owe a lot of money on the 06 Z?

Here's how I got my test-drive even though they were treating it like a GT-R.
First off I'm in the car business so
I told em that my '06 Z was in the shop getting it's after-market parts taken off, and that it was paid off. As soon as it was done at the shop I would drive it over and trade it in for the new Z.
Salesman got ballsy after that and treated me like a king haha.. My bad for jacking him but hey it happens to me all the time
Got my test drive though !!

I would contact Nissan North America and tell them about it. True the economy is in the slump, however, that doesn't give the Managers a right to be bias. If you are old enough, show interest, and could quite possibly buy it... Why should they *****?
I test drove an Evo Ralliart (new turbo one) and the dealership tried the same **** on me. I said "It must be pretty pathetic when you have a buyer sitting in a car he could afford and drive off today since he has a Government job and works everyday." The sales person looked at me stunned. Asked me what I did. He quickly got the keys and let me test it. Got back and I said I wasn't impressed and wanted to think about it. He tried calling me a few times, but **** that. That car was 35k.

Uhhh that story was painful to read bro. Bro I am sure it looked like u were joyriding bro. But seriously bro. Did u actually intend on buying the car bro. If not then they were right to refuse you from a test drive. Try some bromance on them.

I went to the Nissan dealer today to pick up some parts and stopped for a sec to talk to a salesman about the 370z. I scheduled a test drive for this wednesday. Pays to drive a G

Brooooooooo! What you need to do bro, is liek, buy a keg of Natty light broo and set up a maaad game up flip cup with the sales staff bro, bring some of your bros if you'd like. Brah, just liek tell them that if you win, you get to test drive it bro, then just let them win a few times bro. They'll get liek sooooooo drunk broooooo! Once they are bro, just take the keys right and steal the 370z broooo! You may get some jail time bro, but what's a few years in jail when you just played the most EPIC game of flipcup brah?!
I had sent emails to my local dealer with clear interst before the cars ever arrived and when they finally came in, I got a test drive with no questions asked. (Bakersfield Nissan).
I currently drive an 06 Z51 Corvette but the mileage is getting to high and it's time for a new ride. The fit and finish, especially the leather (seats, console, knee pads, shift ring) and suede (door panels, arm rests) of the 370z is much better than the Corvette. The steering is also crisper with more road feel. Handling seems like similar grip, but the corvette tends to step out its rear all the time because of how much torque you get at low rpms.
Overall, I love the 370z, but I'm not sure I want one because it is just not that fast. In order to get the z car to go, you have to launch it at 5,000 rpm. The corvette gives tire spinning launches at 2,000 rpm and gives immediate power without slipping the clutch in a rolling street start. I'm not abusive to machinery and wouldnt launch the z-car hard like that, which makes it seem that much slower.
Hopefully someone will get a forced induction kit going for the Z soon, but when you look at the underhood space, it is REALLY tight in there, especially with dual throttle bodies because you'll need dual inlet tubes from a supercharger or turbo setup.

Well, that is what you get for being honest. Stealerships have no problem coercing and lying to get your money. I don't see the harm in telling them you are serious about trading up when you're really not.
In this case, I think two wrongs do make a right.
It's not wasting time. Seriously, how long does it take to go around the block? I can't believe people are actually siding with car salesmen!

I stopped at St Charles Nissan in St Peter's, MO this morning to pick up the sales literature on the 370Z. They had no literature but there was a black base model automatic sitting out front. A salesman asked me if I wanted to take a drive and I declined, telling him I just wanted a brochure. He talked me into taking it for a drive and I must say, I was impressed. Nice car and fun to drive with the automatic. The paddle shifters work pretty nice.
I can't understand why you guys are having difficulty test driving these cars. I really didn't plan to take it for a drive but the salesman insisted. I'm glad I did.
This car stickered at $32K and there were no dealer add ons. It looks like a pretty good deal to me.
