Default 370Z decision update.

I wrote a review of the new 370Z and actually saw one on the road today. I still recommend the car highly. I decided not to get one for two reasons. The way they group the options would have made the car I bought for 30K in 2005 cost over 40K. Second and the main reason is the 370Z reminded me of my beloved 350Z. Therefore, instead of trying to replicate my past experience I bought a new Corvette instead. Two years ago I posted about selling my Z and wife's Lexus to get a Prius. That was a good move because not only did I become debt free I was able to pay cash for the new Corvette. My new Corvette has the LS3 engine which has 430 HP. The car weighs just 7 lbs more than my 350Z. With XM, removable roofs, navigation, and OnStar which includes a phone it is a very entertaining car. I wish everyone well and this will be my last post since there will not be a Z in my near future.

Best of luck with the new ride. I have friends who own them and they love them. Excellent highway fuel mileage when driven sanely. Enjoy it in good health!!

Nice move, have thought of that myself once or twice. I am going to get a 370 and give them one more chance, after my 2006 oil consumption nightmare.

I'm considering a base C6 or a C5 Z06 in the next year or so as well. The C5's interior might bug me a bit, though.

c6 all the way..the interior is so much nicer than the C5..and personally think the c6 is way sexier than the c5 even in z06 form.

congrats, I will be coming back to a Z from a C6, but keeping it too. If you post on a corvette forum that you are getting a Z, the reaction is 100% opposite of what the members here wrote.

You are so right. I was shopping for a new vette and was an active member of the corvette forum. I test drove five 2008 NEW vettes and each one had anywhere from 2-5 defects, like grinding trans., clutch slipping, squeaks and rattles beyond belief, etc. I voiced my concerns to the vette forum and they responded like I was terrorist. Finally, I advised that I was buying an 08 350Z Touring and their response was essentially that I was a traitor and should be shot. I think brand loyalty is great, but brand stupidity is another story. I turn cars over way more frequently than I probably should and I have owned two corvettes in the past. My 04 Z06 was a good car with no problems, but the 08-09 vette build quality sucks. I just sold my 08 Z and thought (hoped) the build quality was better on the 09 corvettes so I drove a new 09 about three weeks ago. The car had 31 miles on th odometer and the interior roof liner was hanging down and the targa roof squeaked so loud the salesman remarked that it would drive him crazy. I appreciated the salesman's honesty, but the corvette build quality is unacceptable from my experiences.

I wish our new vette owner well.

sorry about your c6 vette experience.. this is my second c6..i had to do a few small tsb's but other than that i don't have the creaks and rattles u observed. my vette has been greatengine is fantastic! my 06 350z had it's issues too..stupid feathering tire issue that was supposed to be fixed in the 06 model and dash rattle and interior chipped easily...but the engine was solid like a rock.
