Did you write off the full value of the lease for Uncle Sam? If not, you two are talking about two totally different situations. If so, how did the numbers work out?

Some sales jobs require that the employee lease a car. The car may be their choice, but for their own write-off hassle-of-maintenance purposes, they require the car to be a lease.

Thank you!

I got the car. Thank you for all your inout as to how stupid I am to lease. I guess non of you actually have done it befor. You are all recalling the story your dad told you 15 years ago, how "to own your car" "Never lease its not yours"
Without even understanding how a lease works.

Thanks anyways.
Congrats on your new rental!

Darren(wonders if anyone else is thinking what I'm thinking..)

Thank you
They aren't eating a thing. Those payments have been rolled into your new lease payment, that's why your lease is coming out so expensive.

Edit: Oh, wow...and you jumped on it? There's a reason why practically nobody leases Zs - it's a sucker's move. You're better off leasing luxury cars where for $500+ you actually get something for your money (3-series, G-sedan, G-coupe, Lexus IS, Lexus ES, Acura MDX, Acura RDX, Acura TSX, etc.).

Oh, well, enjoy your lease. And btw, don't mistake me for someone who doesn't know about leasing. I leased a Maxima and an FX35 before settling and buying the 350Z and later the Audi. I've concluded that leasing is stupid.

people always put down leases here... odd... to each their own!

Just out of curiosity:

For those arguing against leases: Would you find it dumb to buy out a lease during the end of the lease if the initial lease was a fair deal? And, assuming the financing for the buyout is just 2 or 3 years with a good interest.

(This applies to G's & Z's, which usually have a good residual value).

Because the car's buyout is almost never what it's actually worth. Sure, you can play around with the numbers by having a larger monthly payment with a smaller lease buyout, but in that case...why not just finance the car if you aim for a higher payment? Buying out, regardless, is stupid as well.

I will paint you a picture. Back in the day I had a 2001 Maxima SE, $410 payment, nothing out of pocket except 1st month + DMV, $17000 buyout. The MSRP of our particular car with options and all was ~26,000. Let's do the math:

36 months = $14760 paid
+ $17,000 buyout = $31760.

Nothing more needs to be said. I can draw you the same example with our FX35 which we returned this past December. Leasing, and especially buying out a lease is stupid.

Ummm.. my old *** Z is mine... not your financing company... and if you're paying 700 a month, means you have horrid credit, and you shouldn't even be driving a Z because you can't afford it. Those types of payments are for higher end cars (BMW, Lexus, MBZ, Range Rover).

And I only criticise people who CONTINUALLY do leases... if you read the previous posts, you would've seen that I, personally, have done a couple of leases myself. I only did the leases so I could solidify my credit history when I purchased my car. Leases are fine if you're trying to establish credit history, but like I said, doing it continually, for people who can not use it as a business deduction, is a complete waste of $.

So please don't try to trash talk (I gave constructive criticism, not **** talk as your displaying) when your own argument doesn't even support itself.

You can BUY the car with a 60 month loan for the same "payment" This is the difference, you WIN with the lease if the car is worth LESS than $9681 at the end of 3. I think that buying a NEW Z is going to be worth more than $9600 at end of 29 months. I think residual is better on that than an 05 base!! Anyone want to sell me their 2005 base 350z for $10k????? By the way it cant have more than 36k miles.

BTW I did a 60 month loan at 4.5% and figured at a "buy" at $28250 with a down payment of $1250.

I sold my 04 enthusiast in 07 for about $21k!! I would of come out $11k in this scenario.

Lease makes sense for SOME cars!!! You just need to look at the residual, and figure it from there.

^LMFAO, excellent.

A few years ago a girl went on craigs list asking where she could meet a guy that makes at least $500,000 a year. She said she is really good looking, and basicly it will be like a trade up. Her body for the guys money.

So some guy writes back and says: its not a fair trade because I will continue to make money well into my 60's, while your looks will fade. Anyone who makes $500,000 will reason you are a depreciating asset.

Not necessarily true. When I bought our ZR, $30k borrowed over 48 months netted a payment of about $700/month at 4.5% APR. Whether I have good credit or not, you can't argue with the math, and 4.5% is a competitive rate.

That's a 4 year loan vs a 3 year lease, huge difference.

Who cares who owns it? Did you treat your car any different while you were making any payments, you know when the bank owned it? WTF. My z is mine the entire lease duration. I can trash it if I want too.
Constructive criticism? Hah! Point is you have no idea what your talking about, exemplified by the posts above, even your math is off. Go to the Nissan site and enter in 34K and a 4 year 'purchase' and tell me what that is a month? You can't assume everyone wants to drive a car till the wheels fall off or want to save a few bucks. This a sports car not a civic....and if you think thats trash talk...

To the OP, Lease if you want too and don't listen to the haters, at least you'll be rollin in a phat ride. I'm jealous!
